Cloth Diapering

Recommend your Top Loader Washing Machine

Hi Ladies,

I have a front loader right now, but recently was on vacation in a rental house with a top loader. Oh my god, I loved it for the diapers. They haven't seemed to fresh and clean since they were brand new! Anyways, I am in the market for a top loader now, but there are so many to choose from. I notice that many only have cold rinses, wouldn't I want one that has an option for hot rinse? Please recommend yours if you love it! Thanks!

  • A few months ago I purchased the washer that Afwifelife has and we love it. I haven't washed diapers with it yet but we love it for our regular clothes. It has a precision fill option that is similar to a high efficiency wash or you can set load sizes for more water.

  • We have a whirlpool cabrio. I've been happy with it. We do a "quick wash" on warm, no detergent, and then the Whites cycle with detergent (which includes an extra rinse automatically)

We have an LG washer. It's a discontinued model - the WT5001CW. I've generally been happy with it, but the transmission failed earlier this year, only 3.5 years after we purchased it. The Home Depot extended warranty came in handy. Pros: HUUUGE capacity, no center agitator, and great options like a soak cycle, extra water, option to create a custom program, delayed wash. It's a cold water machine, so the hot wash is tepid at best, but I've had no problems getting diapers clean. (In 2+ years of CDing, I've never had to strip, and I use Tide up to line 2 and Desitin on my cotton flats.)
