Kicks and such?

Okay I know everyone's always talking about flutters at this point (I'm 16 weeks now) but I've been feeling flutters for a while. And it's seemed like the kicks have gotten more to being like kicks lately particularly that past two days. It's not always a strong kick but when it is I get like two or three and then the baby chills out (it seems.) so I'm wondering if anyone else has felt anything like the more defined kicks. I remember them from my first pregnancy and it's definitely what it feels like but I just figured 16 weeks was too early to feel a stronger kick like that? Or maybe I just feel like they're strong cause I've been feeling the flutters a while now. Idk y'all give me some impute though!

:)

Re: Kicks and such?

  • I'm 16 weeks and feel real kicks too. ST+Ms feel things faster according to everything I've read.

  • With my first I felt kicks on the outside at 18 weeks. She was feisty in and is still feisty at 3 1/2. So I'm thinking it is possible to feel them earlier if this is your 2+
  • Its my second. I felt flutters here and there a few weeks ago. I have felt a kick or two, but more movement than anything. Im naturally pretty thin with a very short torso, so, Im not surprised I feel movement now. Im a little over 13 weeks. Baby measuring 4 days ahead of schedule. I don't think there is anything that is "normal protocol" when it comes to our individual bodies, if you're feeling it, you're feeling it! :)

  • Mine feels like it's got a party going on in there.  Pointy little kicks out one side, then out the other, then down at my bladder, then out my back, like it's having quite the little dance time in there. This is my third, and I was feeling movement starting a couple of weeks ago.  Can't feel them on the outside yet, but I'm also kind of pudgy in the stomach area so it will probably be a few more weeks before I can feel it on the outside.

  • Okay maybe this is a dumb FTM question....
Will the kicks be pretty much in the same place at this point?  I have felt what I THINK is kicks from Baby A the last two nights.  The same place every time.  It happens about 3 or 4 times in 10-15 minutes and then I don't feel it again.

  • I'm 14w3d and don't know if I have even felt flutters! What does it feel like (probably an impossible question to answer)? Is it a bad thing that I haven't felt them yet? Now my mind is going crazy with worry!
  • @kefttsc‌ I normally feel them in a similar slot most times but I'm not sure for twins+. I've never had more than 1 at a time.

@beagee413‌ some people don't feel movement until much further along. FTMs usually don't feel until after 16ish weeks from what I have read, heard and experienced. The position of the baby, your uterus and your size can all factor into how long it takes to feel. Many women feel flutters differently. It has been described as feeling like there's a fish flipping around in there, slight pressure coming from the inside, similar to a tapping and many more. As you get further along you will be able to identify the movement better. Don't worry, I'm sure everything is fine.

  • This is my second baby. I've been feeling movement since 12 weeks. Kicks since 13w. Other people have been able to feel the baby moving and kicking since around 13w through my tummy. I've also been able to feel tugs on the umbilical cord. I'm thinking it's another Athlete. With my first you could see and feel him kicking from 15w. He's been in sports since he was 3. It's his freshman year in HS and he made varsity soccer. This mom was not surprised with as long as his kicking practice has been in progress.

I think it depends on the person and what they are expecting to feel. At this point they are still little so the movements are little. Be patient and try using a flashlight to the side of your belly. They will kick and hit at it. I'm sure everything is fine.
  • FTM and felt a fluttery dance party this morning for the first time! I called my guy at work all teary eyed. He was super excited and called me a loser for being a cry baby about it but I don't care! I for sure high fived my kid this morning, so that's awesome :)

  • I am 17w 2d with my 2nd, and I still haven't felt much. Just an occasional flutter :(

Every time we have had an ultrasound though, the baby has been really chilled out and not moving around much... so maybe he is just calm! Hoping for some big movement soon!!

  • STM here and I started feeling flutters last week.  When we had our ultrasound he was super active and I can definitely tell when he's awake!  With DD I didn't feel definite movement until right around 18 weeks and then DH didn't feel movement from the outside until 23 weeks.

  • You will feel kicks sooner with a second pregnancy. Your uterus is more readily expanding putting baby closer to where you can feel kicks. You also know what they feel like while the rest of us can't discern a good kick from a gas rumble. Not weird at all!!

  • I want to feel movement SO BADLY.  I'm 15 weeks today and nada.  Yesterday I went to the doc for an "emergency" appt (long story - everything was totally fine) and we could hear my little guy moving around in there with the doppler (moving quite a bit, actually), but I still couldn't feel a thing.

    I WANT MOVEMENT, DAMMIT.

But to your point, yeah, STMs feel things much earlier than FTMs. Totally normal!
  • ST+M tend to feel things earlier because they know what it feels like and recognize it. Also, some babies are more active. DS1 was incredibly active (still is, Lol). DS2 was more chill and never kicked me as hard. On the US so far, this baby hasn't been very active, so I'm hoping maybe I won't have as many violent movements like with DS1. It was cool up until 34+ weeks, but then it was actually painful.
