Bath tubs at 4 months?

So LO is 4 months on sat and he's decided he no longer wants to bathe laying down on his sponge! Also he's almost too long for it. He gets pissed and wants to sit up. He can't hold himself up yet but I'm trying to figure out what to use next until then. My sister suggested taking his mamas and papas chair in the bath which I might do. Anyone else using something you can just leave in there and not have to get it out and dry it off every time we use it?

Re: Bath tubs at 4 months?

  • Mine came with an attachment to make a little seat when she gets tired of the sling.
  • Loading the player...
  • A bath ring maybe? They are readily available in the USA but us Canadians go crazy for them here since we can't buy them north of the border.
  • We have a little tub that converts from infant sling to infant tub. Used it until DS was 11 months and started to stand

You can bathe with him, but that's not always convenient.   My guy is about to outgrow his little tub, but can't sit up yet of course, so we may have to convert to just using the regular tub.

  • We use the Tummy Tub and have since her first bath. She's always loved it. They can usually use it for about a year depending on baby's size.
  • My DD has a whale bathtub that we use. Works great for us!
  • I use the same thing as @aimee223 and I love it. I imagine we'll be using it until she can stand.

Hmm... I'm assuming this means your LO doesn't crap and pee in their bath. The first thing I thought of when I read your post was, oh hell no! :)

    Bumbo?

I was going to suggest this but then I thought how would you wash their butt, private area, upper thighs etc, the bumpo sorta squeezes all that together :P

I pretty much always bathe with DD1 (dD2 still gets bathed in the sink for now). She's never pooped in the tub, but I'm pretty sure she always pees in it. At least it's my own kid's pee I bathe in, beats the swimming pool!

    ------------

He's never pooped in the tub. And he's peed on me outside of the tub plenty of times! At least if it were to happen in the tub I could easily rinse us both off. :)

And also it would absorb water and take forever to dry. It would probably ruin it eventually.
  • Please don't put your kid in the tub in things not meant for the tub. There are plenty of infant tub options that help support the baby until they can sit by themselves and many are under $20 brand new.

Congrats to my GP Sister from another mister Bruinsbabe!!

  • @pistolpackinmomma‌ it's no big deal really my sister did it with all of her kids. It's a plastic seat that can get wet not like a bumbo that would soak up water. You do what works I've found! I'm looking at getting that mesh seat though today it looks like something he would like!
  • Thanks ladies for all the suggestions! He's already wanting to sit on his own and hates laying down at all anymore unless he's sleeping!

And I came home from the hospital on my mom's lap. Anecdotal stories don't cut it for me.
