Any 2u2 moms?

How are you holding up?

DH is still off work, but goes back this Sunday. I have yet to have a full day at home alone with both kids so I am wondering if you want to share your survival tips!

Re: Any 2u2 moms?

  • Luckily DD (14 months) goes to daycare.

However, it's utter chaos in the evenings.

DH was trying to poop the other day and both kids were screaming and I about had a meltdown.

SAHMs are saints. That is all.

  • I narrowly escaped 2u2, but dh only stayed home one week. Then he did half days a home for a few days, but gave up and went into the office full time from that friday on.

Some days they'll nap at the same time and it's heaven. Some days they tag team me and it's awful.

We made it out to the playground once last week. Then I got sick. Sometimes I have to give DS1 an old phone with his videos on it. Sometimes he gets sent to his room a lot.

Right now, we're just surviving until DH comes home. I then take the newborn to the bedroom, shut the door, and nurse him while I watch tv in peace. DH does dinner and bathtime with the toddler and on bad days I make him bring me dinner in bed. If I can get the newborn to sleep and I'm feeling good, I'll help with toddler bedtime so DH can stay up and work on freelance projects. He took on too much work at a really bad time (like he didn't understand that a due date meant we'd eventually have a baby) and now we're all paying the price.

  • I'm doing ok. It is hard handling the both of them but I am trying.

  • I just tried putting ds2 in the sling so ds1 could play in the back yard, but ds2 just rooted and screamed the whole time, after 2 hours of nursing. I get so ragey when I have a screaming baby strapped to me that I end up snapping at ds1. I feel so bad that we're stuck in the house all day, but I have no idea how to deal with the screaming newborn.

  • Also @theultimatesak are 3 and 4 easier than 1 and 2, harder, or just a different kind of hard? I really want to have 4 kids if I can get them out before I get too old, but I feel like I'm failing my oldest already. I hate seeing him watching videos when it's so nice and sunny outside. I am so impressed by what you can get done.

  • This is my first week alone with the both of them. I make sure to get breaks when I can and not overly stress about things. Trying not to stress while both are crying is hard, but I try not to let it get to me. DD1 must take her naps and go down for bed at 8, it is important!

I went grocery shopping yesterday with both of them. I got through it, but I kinda just blew through the aisles before one had a meltdown, did not get as much as I wanted to. Looks like I am going alone at night from now on.

  • I have 2u2! Dh went back to work tonight, I'm 6 days out from a c/s, and my toddler stated the day with a fever. Today was awesome. :( poor boy was so hot and achy from the fever all he wanted to do was snuggle... But I had to keep DD2 away. Bedtime was fantastic too. I can't lift DS at all, so poor baby boy was standing in his PNP crying mama mama got two straight hours.

And there was nothing I could do to comfort him.

I haven't yet had a day home with all three kids alone yet, but let me tell you, i have missed having my 7 year old around!!!

  • I have a newborn (August 18) and a 20 month old.

The hardest part so far is the fact that I can't do much physically with my toddler because I had a cesarean. "Not supposed" to lift him (arms only I can do), limited cuddling because I'm still sore and he is oblivious to where his elbows and knees and heels end up, can't get him into the car (lifting, poo), can't move fast enough to effectively chase him outside and keep him safe.... Ugh poor kid.

Luckily, my MIL and my sister are both in town right now, so I do have quite a bit of help. But I miss all the fun my DS1 and I had :( and I feel like my MIL is taking advantage of the situation by doing all the things that I can't and then rubbing it in by never shutting the fuck up about it (to me, to DH, to her friends, to random peeps at the grocery store, anybody who will listen and stroke her ego....).
  • I have a 4 yr old, a 21month old and a 1 month old. My husband is military and is gone a LOT. So I've been pretty much on my own since he went back to work at 10 days pp. This was my first full week completely alone and it's been alright. It's a bit harder to get things done around here but we are surviving!

  • @smcsharry15‌ I'm in the same boat with the c/s and an 18 month old toddler. It stinks. Especially since he is sick and just wanted mama cuddles, but I can't pick him up.
