Hi, everyone. I'm ten days pp. I had one first degree year with two stitches. For the first five days, I took the Vicodin, but am not a fan of pain pills. I had the usual (from what I hear) small clots and level of lochia has decreased. No one told me about the blood! Good heavens! I didn't feel sore until yesterday so I was off pain meds (except for ibuprofen for three days). Now, if I so a kegel, I feel an intense soreness down there. Tell me your experiences:)
In the second week the scab from the placenta releases and you'll get an increase in bleeding for a bit. Also, if you over do you will experience more soreness and bleeding. Try slowing down a bit.
An off-shoot from OP: Speaking of kegel-ing...when should I start that? And how much? I have been trying to do some everyday, but I did have a small episiotomy that led to my 2nd degree tear (I was not tearing on my own and she wasn't coming out if I didn't ) I don't want to over do it and harm my stitches or healing, but I don't want to wait to long and experience other problems. Currently I am trying to add 1-3 more a day. There was too much going on in the hospital the last time that I saw the OB to ask these thing!

Wait for healing before Kegels IMO. Why work a muscle when it's torn. Let it do the healing, wait until you can walk normally and are completely off pain meds... Then Kegel. I had 2nd degree tears and am just starting to feel normal now (with a few pulls here and there), I will probably give it another week before adding Kegels, but until then, walking should get things warmed up.
