Re: ***Tuesday Ticker Change Check-in***

  • How far along are you? What fruit/veggie are you?  24 weeks -- V-day!!!! Cantaloupe :)

How are you feeling?  Doing well; feeling big these days and I know it's just going to get worse! Hips hurt so bad by the end of the night.

Favorite moment of the week?  SO is finally on the mend (today is two weeks of being sick) and is showing improvement. He's able to sleep without meds now, so that's a huge step forward.

Least favorite moment of the week?  I found out that my OB isn't supportive AT ALL of water birth, which is what I want. So now I have to figure out if I want to switch docs, find a midwife, plan a home birth, or just give up on the water birth. Lots of thinking to do.

How are your symptoms? Getting better? Worse? Any new ones?  Better overall; the joint pain isn't too crazy. Wish the heartburn would take a backseat, but I know that's not happening any time soon.

How is PGAL brain treating you? Any T&P requests?  Doing okay; hitting V-day has been big, especially with my baby shower this week (had to do it early to fit family schedules). Breast pump arrived, so subconsciously, I'm feeling better about at least having the bare minimum ready in case I go early.

Any upcoming appointments or milestones you're looking forward to?  Had my 24wk appt yesterday and it went well; baby sounded great and is growing well. Next appt is mid-Sept for the glucose test, rhogam shot, and I'll start having cervical checks to keep an eye on things.

  • @jcar2 Hope that daycare is going a bit better this week, have you thought more about switching?
@meagpt22 What were the results from your bloodwork, do you have an update yet?
@larahouseman My hips are starting to hurt while I sleep too even with the pillow.  Have you found anything that helps?
@megbmeg How was your check-up last week?
@haleyusf Woohoo for V-day!!  I'm sure you'll love the change in seasons after being in FL!
@MrsTuna08 How was the 3-hour, did you get results yet?  Feeling any less stressed about pre-term labor?  V-day actually really freaked me out and I think that weeks 24-28 were the worst for me re- worrying about that, but I read around 28-29 weeks that the survival rate was up to 80-some%, so now each week I relax a bit.
    @Elysa15 How was your appointment?
@Birch113 Have you done any more reading or research into the home study or other child birth prep?
@Bonnesetter27 How are you holding up?  Feeling OK?  Any updates on baby's estimated arrival??  So close!!
    @GrailSeeker14 Welcome!  Any symptoms yet?
@luciddreamer106 I was able to have biweekly appointments til 20 weeks, I wouldn't have made in 3-4 weeks without a check-up before the A/S.  How lucky that your H can do them for you in between!!
@Bigboneded How are the weight gain efforts going?
@SamanthaLaura16 Congrats again on a great A/S and being team blue!
@Keberly91 I'm not a fan of sleeping on my side either, causes me some pain too.  I have yet to find a way to make it comfortable!

  • How far along are you? What fruit/veggie are you?  30 weeks, cucumber

How are you feeling?  The same, still feeling OK just tired.

Favorite moment of the week?  I have 2- my birthday was yesterday so we took the dogs to celebrate with my family on Sunday, and last night I had H bring home crab dip and steamed shrimp from the seafood market and it was SO good.  I've been craving crab dip for weeks/months now!

Least favorite moment of the week?  Saturday, it was a rainy blah day and I had to work for a few hours in the afternoon to catch up on some stuff.

How are your symptoms? Getting better? Worse? Any new ones?  The same I think, nothing new.

How is PGAL brain treating you? Any T&P requests?  My anxiety has been pretty low lately, which is great.  I feel better/more confident/less worried with each week that passes!

Any upcoming appointments or milestones you're looking forward to?  Next appointment is Friday just for a check-up.

This one is a little selfish cause I need some inspiration, so if you're willing, share your baby's name or your favorite names!  For a girl we like Juliana, Abigail, and Violet and for a boy Joseph, Bradley, and Taylor.  But now H is thinking maybe he doesn't like Bradley anymore (but I really like it), and we're both not that excited about Joseph or Taylor either.  And I'm afraid that our girl names might be too popular.  Issues!  Lol.

  • How far along are you? What fruit/veggie are you?

27 weeks, rutabaga.  Third trimester!! Different sources say different things, but I'm choosing to listen to sources that say 27 weeks as the start of the 3rd!!!

    How are you feeling?

Pretty good, except for the heartburn - oh the heartburn.

    Favorite moment of the week?

We hung out with my parents at their cottage for the weekend.  It was nice and relaxing.

Least favorite moment of the week?

I failed my 3 hour GTT.  Damn.  I'm an RD so I feel equipped to handle the GD diagnosis, I'm just annoyed that my usually healthy body punked out on me.

How are your symptoms? Getting better? Worse? Any new ones?

The heartburn is getting pretty unbearable.  Even sleeping with my head elevated I wake up 3-4 times per night to take Tums.  My OB wrote a prescription yesterday so hopefully that will help.

How is PGAL brain treating you? Any T&P requests?

Holding steady for now.  I keep having the BH, which I mentioned to my OB.  She said BH were normal but she wasn't ready to just brush them off since they were happening so regularly.  So I got another cervix check and my cervix is still a champ - hanging out around 3.7-3.8 cm and didn't open when pushed on.  Although I think the regular cervix checks are probably unnecessary, they really help my PGAL brain.  Also, my OB mentioned that with a good looking cervix the chances of going into labor in the next 10 days were 1% - that made me feel good.

Any upcoming appointments or milestones you're looking forward to?

I'm looking forward to week 28.  I knew a baby born at 28 weeks and although he had a lengthy NICU stay, he was ultimately a happy and healthy little boy.

This one is a little selfish cause I need some inspiration, so if you're willing, share your baby's name or your favorite names!
Hopefully none of my nosey family members are stalking this board...... ;)  We aren't telling her name because I just don't want to hear anyone's (negative) opinion and it will leave something as a surprise.  This is greatly upsetting my mother - too bad, so sad.
After much debate, we pulled the name Gwen out of nowhere and decided, yep, that is her name.  Her full name will be Gwyneth Kay, but we will probably call her Gwen most of the time.
We had agreed on a boy name much earlier, we would have used Anderson Daniel.  We like that boy name an awful lot, so if we have a boy in the future, we will probably still use that.

  • How far along are you? What fruit/veggie are you?
    25 weeks, cauliflower

    How are you feeling?
Ok, but tired! Overdid it a bit this weekend and still trying to catch up.

    Favorite moment of the week?
We went to a festival this weekend and saw a band I really like: the National.

Least favorite moment of the week? How exhausted I was after the festival. Crazy sleepy and just sore all over.

How are your symptoms? Getting better? Worse? Any new ones?
About the same. Some heartburn but manageable for now. The one that bugs me the most is feeling out of breath so easily.

How is PGAL brain treating you? Any T&P requests?
Doing pretty well. I know every added day is a big help to LO in case she has to come early, and our check up last week was good. Everything they looked at was a-ok.

Any upcoming appointments or milestones you're looking forward to?
I am very much NOT looking forward to the glucose test. I suspect I'll be pretty sick from it, and so I'm not sure how to fit it into my schedule. Does it have to be in the AM?

We are also keeping this secret IRL but some favorites are Natasha, Colette, Juniper, and Daphne. But we call her Junie all the time, so it feels like we'll probably go with Juniper. But it's hard to be sure!

If we were having a boy, we would've named him Jack. I also really like Soren and Calvin.

  • I don't have a ticker but if I did, it would change today. Ha! My due date is April 28th.

How far along are you:5 weeks today. Baby is an appleseed.

How are you feeling: Great so far! Nothing big to report. Compared to my other pregnancies, I'm LOVING this one so far.

Favorite moment of the week: Starting to tell close friends.

Symptoms: Nothing compared to my last pregnancies but I have more of the "typical" ones such as sore boobs, increased sense of smell and being tired, which I've never had before.

PGAL Brain: Not terrible like the last pregnancy. I still completely convince myself i'm bleeding at least once a day. I keep saying those awesome mantras.

Upcoming appt/milestone: Already past one loss milestone and looking forward to the first ultrasound next week.

GTKY/ Name list: We haven't really started but our old lists contained Cecilia, Linora, Eleanor, Claire and Amelia. For boys we had Lincoln, Oliver, Henry and Franklin. Current DS is Jefferson.

How is PGAL brain treating you? Any T&P requests?

@rox825 glad you got your crab dip. Finally satisfying a craving is so wonderful!

@mrstuna08 sorry about the heartburn! It's miserable, especially when you can't sleep.

  • Last week baby was no where near engaged. I do think LO has dropped a little though. Last night I was up most of the night with contractions. I kept trying to sleep through them but they kept waking me up. But the moment I got up for the day they were gone.

How far along are you? What fruit/veggie are you? 39 weeks/watermelon

How are you feeling?  Fairly good. I am ready to be done but at other times I know I will miss being pregnant.

Favorite moment of the week? Having some contractions!

Least favorite moment of the week?  Hearing baby is still really high.

How are your symptoms? Getting better? Worse? Any new ones?  No real symptoms except being huge.

How is PGAL brain treating you? Any T&P requests?  Sometimes baby has long periods of sleep and that makes me anxious.

  • @haleyusf- I am sorry your OB doesn't support waterbirths. You might try calling the hospitals and asking if they allow waterbirths. I am not sure many do.

@rox825-I don't think Violet and Abigail are too trendy.

@Birch113-I hope you like the book. I hear you about getting off the floor. Our son (3) said the cat went out the door yesterday, so DH was looking for him outside. I got down to check under our bed and there he was but I didn't think I was getting back up.

@Mrstuna08-So sorry about the GD. I have it too. If your bmb doesn't have a gd check-in you can always stalk other bmbs. Mine (sept) has one on tuesdays and we share some good meal/snack ideas. Plus it is nice to hear that someone else has the same problems.

@megbmeg-I would ask your ob if the test has to be in the morning, because some make you fast first. I thought it would make me really sick, (it did with ds) but it didn't. It really isn't that bad.

@JuddandJessica-Congrats on all the symptoms. I know that sounds weird.

@Elysa15-I can see where your doc would feel the bump makes you more anxious but sometimes seeing how others have positive outcomes helps me with my pg. For example I see so many going on to have their rainbow babies that it reminds me that most people have completely normal pg.

  • @haleyusf Baby shower, fun!  Is it this upcoming weekend?  Love your names.

@MrsTuna08 So sorry about the GD diagnosis.  Hope your RX helps with the heartburn.

@Birch113 I'm so glad your cat is OK!  One of our dogs was a shelter dog who was brought in as a stray at 4-5 months, luckily he's healthy but it makes me sad to think of him on the street by himself as a little puppy :-(  Miles is really cute!

@megbmeg You might be able to do it in the afternoon, my office does them in the AM but I didn't have to fast, so I'd imagine you could do it later in the day?  I've seen people posting about it on my BMB.

@JuddandJessica Welcome!  I definitely remember checking for blood every time that I had to go to the bathroom and assuming it would be there throughout 1st tri, it's a stressful time.

    @Elysa15 Congrats on Team Pink!!!

@Bonnesetter27 Sorry the baby doesn't seem to be on his or her way yet, hopefully the dropping and contractions are good signs though!

  • @bonnesetter - I hope baby makes his/her way down soon. Exciting that your body is gearing up with contractions (although I'm sure you'd like to be able to sleep too)! My doc isn't requiring fasting for my glucose test so I'm going to ask about taking it in the afternoon. I'm just worried that if I take it in the morning, I may not be up to teaching right afterward. I may be fine, but I just don't know. It would be easier if I could just go home afterward. And I love Cecilia and Toby. We had Cecilia on our list, too.

  • @megbmeg -- he just flat out said he doesn't do them. I'm guessing it's a malpractice insurance issue. He also said that he thought anyone who delivered at a birthing center was crazy. Yeah... no bias there...

@bonnesetter27 -- I did check into that, and it looks like none of the hospitals will let you deliver in the water, although some will let you bring your own birthing tubs to stay in longer. It's definitely making me consider a birthing center or home birth as an option though; we live close to a hospital so a transfer should be pretty easy if something went wrong, but it just brings a new set of variables into play. I think I'm going to have to set up a bunch of hospital tours, midwife interviews, doctor interviews, etc. Just way more work than I was anticipating.

@rox825 -- it's Thursday night; my mother scheduled it then because my grandmothers are both in town for that day and that day only! It will be really small, but since it's my second baby, I wasn't really expecting it anyways. My sister-in-law is cooking, so that should be good!

Favorite moment of the week? We had an amazing week last week! Had a great anatomy scan and found out that baby is looking healthy. Also we found out we are having a boy!  My niece was also born the day after our ultrasound and seeing my husband with her is just the sweetest thing ever.

Least favorite moment of the week?  Moments leading up to ultrasound, I always feel sick.

Least favorite moment of the week? Finding out that the lump on my FIL's neck is cancer and that he also has a tumor behind his sinuses. He has a Dr's appointment tomorrow to talk to the ENT Dr. No matter the treatment, it's going to be tough.

How are your symptoms? Getting better? Worse? Any new ones? Getting better mostly. My back pain is getting worse though.

How is PGAL brain treating you? Any T&P requests? I'm doing well. It's comforting watching my belly get bigger and to start feeling the baby move.

Any upcoming appointments or milestones you're looking forward to? A/S in two weeks

@Bonnesetter27‌ that's exactly how I feel I can't just quit lol. I love all the ladies here. So for now it's my secret. ;)
  • @rox825 - Happy Birthday to you! Violet definitely doesn't seem common to me, and I think it's super cute! I also love Bradley. Blast those DHs (DARN husbands)... ;)

How far along are you? What fruit/veggie are you?

    18 weeks - Sweet Potato

    How are you feeling?

Pretty good. My headaches have come back with a vengeance and there have been a couple of days this past week where I felt like I was back in the first tri again... I blame it on my husband's night shift screwing with my sleep schedule.

    Favorite moment of the week?

Picking out a new mattress!! Ahhh, it's being delivered tomorrow and I can't wait! Our current mattress is at least 10 years old and is caving in the middle like crazy. DH has got a bad back and I am having fits trying to sleep on my left side while being slowly rolled toward the center of the bed... neither of us could take it anymore, really. Our new one is a pillow-top and it is so super comfy. Also, DH said something about getting a king when we move to Knoxville next year! Great sleep is in my future, guys.

Least favorite moment of the week?

My husband's godmother was diagnosed with ALS about a year ago. We just found out today that she had to have a trach put in. Things aren't looking good. She is only in her early 50's and is so sweet and funny. It's just terrible. :(

How are your symptoms? Getting better? Worse? Any new ones?

All in all, I can't complain. But, I was enjoying my respite from the headaches. I'm hoping once this new mattress gets here, it will relieve some of my aches and pains.

How is PGAL brain treating you? Any T&P requests?

Still anxiously awaiting the anatomy scan next week. I think I will have much more confidence after that's over and done with. Baby's heartbeat is still coming through loud and clear on the Doppler, so that's my biggest reassurance right now... besides the poking and prodding every night when I'm ready to get some sleep! :p

Any upcoming appointments or milestones you're looking forward to?

Most definitely. Anatomy scan next Wednesday, September 3rd! So pumped.

So, I'm really hoping this baby is a girl because I can't think of boy names to save my life. haha.
I love Harper, Imogen, or Camille for girls. DH doesn't care for Imogen and neither do any of my family members. But, I have always imagined having an Imogen Elizabeth. We'll see if they come around. We are probably leaning closest to Harper right now. I want to go with Harper Moon, but not sure if my traditional family will approve. :) Or, if we pick Camille, DH came up with an excellent play on words that includes a family name - Leon. Camille Leon... chameleon. Haaa, my mother-in-law says we can't, but... we think it's pretty awesome. I am a huge chameleon enthusiast. As for boys, the only one we've semi-agreed on is Fin. Just one "n" on purpose, like a fish fin. DH's family are all like legendary fishermen. My nephew's middle name is Fischer. Also, all of the males seem to have 3 letter names... Tom, Rob, Max, etc. Might be cute to keep up the tradition! :)
  • @haleyusf Yay V-Day!  I'm sorry that your doc (and the hospital) is being such a stick in the mud about water births.

@rox825 Violet was on my short list too :)

@Birch113 Happy V-Day! Sorry your kitty wasn't feeling well :(  One of my kitties had to get the glycerin enemas a couple of times and although it was super gross, it was sort of funny.  She would toot bubbles and scare herself.

@megbmeg Are you doing the 1-hour glucose test?  I had to do that one in the morning because it was a fasting lab, but I didn't think that one was too awful. Not fun for sure, but not awful.  But again, maybe that is only in comparison because I have the 3 hour experience still fresh in my mind.  Anywhoo, good luck!

    @JuddandJessica Welcome to Tuesdays!

@Elysa15 Yay for Team Pink!! So exciting to find out and start the shopping :)

@Bonnesetter27 Thanks, I did check out my BMB and they had just started a GD check-in, yesterday - so that was pretty good timing!  Thanks for the suggestion!  Also, baby day is getting so close for you - squeeeee!

@GrailSeeker14 Good for you for hopping back on the exercise wagon!  I stopped running after my mc and I regret it.  I take walks and do yoga and pilates for now, but it's just not the same as a nice jog.

@SamanthaLaura16 Congrats on a great A/S and Team Blue!

@meagpt22 Yay for no least favorite moment!  :)  That's a pretty good week!

@luciddreamer106 I'm so sorry to hear about your FIL.  I hope you get some positive news.

@Keberly91 Good for you getting a new mattress!  We got a pillow top about a year ago and it was a fantastic decision.  My only complaint is that it is so tall - I'm going to need a step stool soon or I won't be able to heave myself up onto it anymore. ;)

  • @luciddreamer106 I'm sorry about your FIL, T&P that treatment cures him.  My mom is a breast cancer survivor so I know how scary it is to have a parent diagnosed with cancer.

@Keberly91 I'm so sorry about your husband's godmother.  Yay for a new, comfy mattress!

  • Oh ladies, how I've missed you! We went off to Germany for a week, so I feel I've been gone forever. It was amazing. I was sick a lot. Good times.

Anywho, lots to say this week!

How far along are you? What fruit/veggie are you?  17 weeks! Apple / onion / weight of turnip?

If you’re far enough along, are you having a boy or girl or are you team green? (This is to update the list, so if you’re already on there no need to answer again!)  Found out last week... BOY!

How are you feeling?  Better. Still sick at times, but it's not every day, so I'll take it.

Favorite moment of the week?  Um, amazing blood test results (NO chromosomal abnormalities) and finding out it's a boy and announcing to work and facebook! (This is what happens when I disappear for 2 weeks.)

Least favorite moment of the week?  Super shitty work situation. Nothing serious, just shitty.

How are your symptoms? Getting better? Worse? Any new ones?  Better, but still there.

How is PGAL brain treating you? Any T&P requests?  Doing okay. Sharing with my coworkers and facebook was scary. But my lil choochoo on the doppler makes it all okay.

Any upcoming appointments or milestones you're looking forward to?  19 weeks is the a/s.

Girls... Hailey, Bailey, Nora, Cora, Eleanor, Harper... (The hubs hated them, but dammit, I'm keeping them on my list.)
Boys... We are in a cold war over Mason and David. We're both fine with the other as the middle name, but which will be the first... we shall see.
Other (future?!) boy: William (called Liam), Benjamin (called Benji b/c I'm a dork), and Edward (my grandpa)
