Clean eating dinners

Somebody help me out of my rut. I need dinners that are clean, easy, and bonus points if they go in the crockpot. Halp.

  • Search it on pinterest.  I have found a lot of recipes.
  • @CabbageCabbage‌, 3 of those contain wheat, which we try not to eat. The lemon chicken one, I've tried and didn't care for, but I need to try it again with breasts. I'm not a fan of thighs. Thanks though!

  • Clean eating = no processed foods. For me, that also includes any breads, pasta, etc. I like a lot of chicken too. :)

  • @cjcouple‌, it's pretty hard to get used to, but I'm trying to make it work. It's the best thing for my PCOS, and my only hope of avoiding fertility treatments. I adore pasta and still eat it at least a couple times a month, but I never make it at home anymore. Ds and DH still eat sandwiches most days, but I try not to.

@gastro, I love fish too. Thanks for the ideas!

  • Like I can never get on board with avocado = butter. I love avocado....but butter well wins hands down. :)

Plus, real butter isn't bad for you. :) And I hate avocado.

  • There are a lot of good paleo sites and books out now that should fit the bill.

I roast veggies a lot, especially cauliflower and sweet potatoes. Have that with some lean ground pork made into sliders (no buns).

Brown rice is easy if you bake it a la Alton Browns recipe. If I am really lazy I just pop some salmon or chicken in the oven at the same temperature and serve with a salad.

Cooking in bulk helps too. Chicken can be repurposed for salads or soup etc.

  • @ababymaybe‌, my issue comes with seasoning. I can't handle anything even remotely bland. Do you use anything special?

  • https://onceamonthmeals.com/101-freezable-slow-cooker-recipes/ There is a whole foods tab here that should provide lots of options. I have loved everything I've tried on this site.

  • I've been making a lot of zucchini pasta since my low-carb restart a couple months ago. I am not a huge veggie eater by nature and I've never even really been a big zucchini fan, but it's pretty decent! I peel it, then use a julienne peeler to make "noodles" and stop when I get to the seedy part in the middle. Sauté it with some butter and garlic and it's a pretty quick and easy side dish.

  • Marinade chicken with extra virgin olive oil, rosemary, and lemon juice overnight. You can sub garlic for lemon as well.

I've been meaning to get one of those julienne peelers. Spaghetti squash was too much work, but I think I could handle that.

  • So are you more paleo rather than just clean? My understanding of clean is that whole grains are included.

Some people consider grains clean, some don't. I mostly just avoid wheat, as opposed to all grains. So I'll still eat rice, even though I know it's not wonderful for me. I also still eat dairy, which isn't paleo. I love the idea of eating paleo, but it's a bit too restrictive for me.
