Low PAPP-A

Hi ladies,

I just received a call from my Doctor in regards to my NT tests. She said that the results for DS came back normal, but my PAPP-A is low. She didn't give me the actual number. She explained that I will have to go for further testing and that it could mean an early induction, placenta insuffiency, etc. Of course now, I hopped on Google and have been reading all kinds of horrible things (fetal death, miscarriage...)

I am 19+4 and just had my a/s. I was told that baby looked great and that we were having a boy.

I'm just wondering if anyone is educated/experienced with this and can share some more information?

I don't have any personal experience but my best friend had this with her daughter. For her, the took more blood and did the materni 21 (is that what it's called?) test. From that, everything came back normal. FX all turns out ok!

@NatureLovers I was snooping around but found very little. I hope someone else has too. Information I've found is very vague, limited, quite complicated and confusing. Thanks for responding though!

@HappyMonkey817 I'm so glad it worked out for you! Thank you so much, you have definitely helped put my mind at ease. I've been crying since the phone call and feel a lot better after reading this. I will ask about that testing next appt.

@candacemg1‌ Thanks for this info. It sounds very similar to the very short explanation my doc gave me over the phone. Yes! I completely freaked but you ladies definitely help calm my nerves. Good vibes to you and the babe for a smooth pregnancy and delivery!

Just curious.... did you just have your NT scan? I thought that needed to be done between 11-13 weeks?

@mmur76 I had bloodwork done at 12ish weeks, and again at 18. Ultrasound at 12 weeks and again at 19+1.
