With mine I had to fast for a least 8 to 12 hours before. When I got to the office they took blood to get my fasting levels. Then they gave me the drink and after I finished they put a timer on and I went to the waiting room and waited an hour and they took more blood. So they took 4 draws of blood the whole time I was there. Also not sure if this happen to anyone else but that first hour after drinking the glucose I felt really nauseous (didn't throw up though) then the 2nd and 3rd hours I was just really hungry and couldn't want to eat my snack I brought. That's another thing bring a little snack that you can eat right after so you can hold yourself over until you can get some food. Good Luck!
The glucola drink for the 3 hour has double the sugar in it. The 1 hour is 50 grams and the 3 hour is 100 grams. They take your blood every hour during the 3 hours. So it's the same idea, just a longer test with more glucose in the drink.
A lot of women fail the 1 hour then pass the 3 hour, myself included with my first. Lots of luck to you!

@sotomama they called me today too and I didn't pass either. I have to go for my 3 hr sometime this week. I'm not looking forward to it either. They told me not to eat after midnight (which is what they told me for the 1hr as well) but I could have water. Also as @Dumbgurl04 mentioned they told me to bring a snack to eat right after all the tests are done since you'll be fasting all that time.

I was so upset to hear I failed the 1 hour and had to do the 3 hour. I know how you feel! I stopped eating after dinner at 6pm the night before and had the test at 8:30 the next morning. When you show up, they draw your blood fasting and you take a pee test. Something I didn't know was that along with the blood draws every three hours (A total of 4 blood draws) they also have you take pee tests every hour (Total of 4). So my advice would be to drink enough water in between to be able to give a pee sample. Also, bring a snack! I felt really weak and dizzy afterwards - and felt much better after stuffing my face with food. They then called a few hours after I left to say I passed the 3 hour! Good luck! Hope you pass!
Ugh just got the call I failed my 1 hour test too! Not looking forward to the 3 hour test but glad you all posted so I know what to expect. Gosh you have to pee hourly too?? I hope we pass this one.
I didn't have to do urine tests during mine. In fact they told me I was only allowed to sip a little bit of water only if I really needed to. Beyond that nothing to eat or drink until we were done.
The paperwork my doctor gave me says Non-Fasting but I am super paranoid that I will eat something that will throw the test off or something.
I scheduled it for first thing in the morning and figured I would just drink a TON of water heading into it and bring a snack for immediately after like everyone has been saying.
Did anyone else have a 3-hour test that was non-fasting? Also - I always have to lay down when I get my blood taken because I get nauseous and light headed, no matter what I do... it's annoying. I guess I will just have to ask if I can lay down for the draws? And finally - anyone else have small veins? Did they have a problem getting 4 draws?
Sorry - I am on here as much as possible but I drive during the day for work most of the time so I don't get a chance to post a lot. I have been active in the past but just jumped on to ask a quick question while I had a few minutes - I will check the old posts. Sorry I didn't realize that.
Re: 3 hour glucose test :(
Take a book or something because the wait sucks.
