Have any of you done it while pregnant?? I'm being a chicken and wanna play the pregnancy card...it's too big of a shock to my system & not safe for the baby, right? RIGHT?!?! Lol
I've seen a pregnant woman do it who is due in January. I have also seen someone do it sans ice. But I'm with you! Play the pregnancy card and just donate....everyone wins!
kkleigh10 That is what I am doing as well. I am going to donate to SMA. When my first was born I found a blog of a sweet little one who was diagnosed with SMA and it broke my heart to see the struggle she went through.
I'm thinkin we'll just donate to a couple charities and post that and I'll see if I can talk my husband into being the stand in for the whole family. My whole family was nominated including my 2 year old son...who I'm sorry but I'm not pouring a freezing cold bucket of ice water over his head! Bath time is already hard enough, I don't need to add a traumatic event to make it worse

@actres SMA is a charity very close to my heart. A close friend (who I consider family) has a 3 year old daughter who was diagnosed around age one with SMA. She is the smartest funniest sweetest little girl and it breaks my heart to know her future will be so tough!
I just wanted to say thank you for donating to such an important cause that not many people know about. :x
I haven't been challenged, but I would probably do it. I think everyone would understand if you played the pregnancy card though!
@actres - I also thank you for donating to this cause. My cousin has a daughter with SMA and no one in our family had ever heard of it until she was born. It's absolutely devastating to see the struggle that she goes through.

My SIL that works in Labor and Delivery recommended that I not do it with shockingly cold water. I did it with room temp water and it was still miserable, but fun

Twins? You mean two babies? WOW!
Team PURPLE!!
We are excited to meet William Alexander and Harper Abigail in 2015!
I don't see any shame in just donating, pregnant or not.
Also, one of my friends posted on Facebook that while she's honored to have been nominated and respects the ALS foundation, she'll instead be making a donation to ____ (whatever her charity of choice was). I liked that response.
This is how I handled it. I understand that the ice challenge had helped the ALS foundation a lot and I'm glad it has but I hate it and will not be shocking myself for the entertainment of others.
A few of my closer friends have done it recently, so I wouldn't be surprised if I get picked soon. My plan was to donate money, and the have my husband overturn bucket over me and have just the receipt fall out and I'll say I'd rather donate than get wet. But then again, Charlie Sheen already did it better, so maybe not.
I had never heard of SMA and I know they are actively seeking a cure.....I would love to see that even though I do not personally know anyone who has this. Just reading that blog has made me more aware of it. The mommies and families of these children are so strong and courageous!
I was wondering the same thing... I got nominated but am still underground about my pregnancy on FB. I don't want to be so obvious so I'll just donate.
I'm over the als ice bucket challenge. I wouldn't do it either way, but pregnant seems like an easy out. We donated, but my husband did it without telling me; I would have rather donated to something different. I think it's awesome how much awareness it has generated, but let's move on.
