Is it only me?

So i went to my OB yesterday to disscuss this tightening pain i was having for 2 days. He sent me to the hospital to monitor baby. And for being only 24 weeks tomorrow they thought they wouldnt be able to track her on the machine just yet. But she was a good girl and let them :)

Turns out i have irritation in my uterus as it came on the machine. The pain still has not gone away. Babys fine. But the pain sucks. Anyone else ?

Re: Is it only me?

  • Hmmm, I've never had that but that's the official name for it?  An irritation in your uterus?  It just sounds so unofficial! lol Either way, sounds like everything is ok, so I'm glad it's nothing more serious!

  • Yep, that's what my OB calls it too- Irritable Uterus, whoo hooo!

I just try and avoid doing things that make it worse for me- walking long distances, vacuuming (shut it, ladies), and carrying heavy items. I break down my housework into smaller bits through out the day and rest in between (so yes, I still vacuume). It also helps if I drink plenty of fluids.

    Good luck!

An irritation on your uterus? Picked up by a machine? Did they give it a name?

Only speaking from my own experience, it will show up as small, irregular contractions. It can cause preterm labor, but not always. Its pretty much Braxton hicks from hell.

  • I had that with my last pregnancy starting at 30 weeks.  I had contractions every 4 - 20 minutes.  I was monitored a couple times at L&D but they reassured me I would know when they were true labor contractions that were leading to dilation of the cervix.  They were right.  The previous contractions were irregular and didn't increase in intensity or duration.  As soon as I was in labor, they were regular and lasted longer.  It's scary when they start so early in pregnancy.  I'm starting to get them now at 24 weeks.  Only advice is to go back in for monitoring if they become regular.  You are not alone and they are more annoying than problematic.

I had similar pain and went to the hospital for it. Turns out baby was just favouring a spot that made it hard on me. My midwife suggested I get a maternity belt to keep everything tight and comfy. I bought it from walmart. Absolutely love it! I can walk and do housework without wanting to flop over and cry.
