Re: •••• 2IF Weekly Check-In ••••

  • Cycle Status: I'm 11dpo, which is good, but my temperature did drop slightly this morning. I was thinking about taking a test today, but with my temp dropping a little bit, I think I'll just wait and see if my next cycle starts. But making it to 11 DPO is kind of good for me. As soon as AF shows up, I'm calling the Re to start meds. Yay for medcation induced ovulation!

QOTW: I got a couple sets of really high thread count, Egyptian cotton sheets from one of those discount mommy websites last year. And it was so worth it! I feel like I'm sleeping on a cloud every single night. I like the higher thread counts. Before this though, we had a couple sets we got for our wedding so they were decent quality, but nothing like what we have now.

And do you have several sets that you switch out a lot or do you only have one that you just wash and put back on. I do not have a fancy set right now, I just got a new comforter set and I let N pick it out because I just don't care how my bed looks right now- SO, she picked out pink sheets with a b/w comforter lol. I used to have really glorious, Egyptian cotton with a super high thread count ( I had 2 sets ) Idk what I did with them? Maybe they're in the linen closet? I haven't looked for them in a while, and like I said, I really don't care right now. I don't think I slept any differently on the nice sheets vs the eco sheets that I'm using now

  • Hey @Mrs Castillo‌ Mr C doesn't mind sleeping on pink sheets? I think my husband would not like that. He lets me have pink "Cook for the cure" stuff in the kitchen, but the rest the house he prefers it to be a little more gender-neutral.

Cycle status: CD2! Despite being on a daily course of hormone therapy after my surgery 2 weeks ago, I started bleeding yesterday, which is right around when I would have expected AF if it weren't for the surgery & meds. My RE said I can stop the meds and count the bleeding as a new cycle. This is good news because it means we can burn the bench sooner! I just need to wait for one more AF and then we'll be doing Letrozole + Trigger + IUI.

QOTW: yes, we have high threadcount 100% Egyptian cotton or whatever bedsheets, but more because DH insists. I would otherwise be too cheap to buy them. We have 2 sets that we rotate.

    MOVING TO ADOPTION!

  • Sorry in advance for the long vent :)

Cycle status: Ovulation day. Unfortunately we had a really bad experience with the IUI. The clinic moved today and their disorganization has created high anxiety for DH and I've been on the verge of tears all day. We did B2B IUIs and yesterday was a bit disorganized at the old office (i.e. couldn't find pens for us to sign things, giving misinformation about where the sample should go, etc.) but today was just ridiculous. For example, no one really knew where we were supposed to go or what we were supposed to do and led us to standing around while staff all stared at us not sure what to do either. Then the collections area turns out wasn't ready and opened late. There was no paper towel or soap in the collection room. The lock needs instructions on that door (thankfully no one came in but it opened by itself twice). The bathroom was closed for maintenance. The whole place was really dry and we both parched but no water fountain available (there were two at the old place). And the new place looks pretty but no backs on the chairs so uncomfortable. Anyways, not surprisingly motility and count sucked today. I mean DH almost walked out of their empty handed so I guess something is better than nothing. Blood and u/s was really inefficient and took forever. They weren't clear to me about having to have a full bladder and so that became an issue too...and apparently I have a titled uterus, first I've heard so that made it more difficult. All in all, I know it only takes 1 little swimmer but I'm not holding much hope for this cycle and feel like we wasted our money.

QOTW: Do you have fancy bed sheets? Do you think it's worth the money to get the high thread count ones? And do you have several sets that you switch out a lot or do you only have one that you just wash and put back on.

Sorta of I guess. LOL define fancy. We spend a bit on our sheets and love the extra comfort. We have a few sets.

  • Cycle Status: Waiting to set a surgery date to remove the scarring. Working out with work first.

QOTW: We have 3 sets of sheets. The econ ones I only use on the air mattress, I hate them so much. The other 2 are decent quality, but I definitely prefer the higher thread count set than the other.

  • CD 11, natural cycle, TI

We have 2 fairly nice sets of sheets but they are "irregular" so one of them does not fit the bed quite right. They are super soft and were super cheap so I'm not complaining. The ill fitting one is a back up set we mostly just use the other one and wash once a week.

  • @sailorgal, I'm so sorry it was such a bad experience!  I can't imagine.  I think you should insist on a refund or a free cycle or something to compensate for such a mess.  I can't even imagine going through all that.  And props to your man for performing!  I'm pretty sure my DH would not have been able to, so good for you guys.  And watch, this is going to be the one that works!

We have had some pretty nice, expensive sheets in the past, but I'm just using some west elm ones right now that aren't a high thread count but are still nice.

QQTW: Yes we have some fancy sheets but since we got all of them 8-9 years ago when we got married they are in need of replacement, which conviniently will happen when we move in the spring.

And plus also @sailorgal that experience sounds awful I'm sorry!

Started with RE in August 2010, dx with unexplained IF and then finally our 3rd IUI cycle using Follistim and Trigger resulted in our wonderful little man.  Born 12/2/11

TTC#2 Never really prevented, but were careful early on as Dr. reccomended

Surprise BFP 12/16/13, started progesterone immediately as first numbers came back low, but betas were good.  Progesterone wasnt enough. Natural MC 12/24/13.

Back with RE as of January 2014...

  • Thanks for the thoughts ladies. Yes we are going to write a letter of complaint. I've drafted it but want to wait a day or so for emotions to cool down before dropping it off to them. DH is the calmest, most easygoing guy ever and he was still upset about it all when he got home last night from work. The tough part is that everyone was sssoo nice, as always but just their system and inefficiency was terrible. My nurse even called in the afternoon to say she noticed I was having a rough time....I didn't really want to talk about it then but I did tell her we intended to write a formal letter addressing what happened.
