Anyone thinking/planning on using cloth diapers?

We are. We did with my second child. We lived in an apt with our first so didn't bc laundry wasn't easy. We plan to this time around as well.

What brands do you all love?? Always on the lookout to try new things.

I've been looking at the Charlie Bannana brand because they have disposable inserts and since we are out a lot during race season (yeah hubby has a racecar) and now that the DS is playing sports at school this year I'm thinking this might be easier. But I'm not sure. There is a Facebook group called Cloth Diaper Trader where you can get good deals. Hubs thinks I'm slightly nuts for going this route but anyway to save money helps.

I just switched to cloth with my daughter this week in an effort to start saving money. I have been using all pocket diapers and I have been really liking RumpaRooz the most. A longtime cloth diapering mom friend of mine suggested I try hybrid diapers so I bought some of them. I just got them today and they're in their 4th cycle in the wash to prep them - I'll report back on them soon! I couldn't imagine buying diapers for 2 kids at a time so I think it's the right choice for us!

We currently CD our 2 yr old. We have a mix of BG, fitteds (BSRB and some other brands), some cheapie Alvas to round out our daycare stash and tot bots for when they are a bit smaller.

We CD our dd and have it all ready to go. We do pockets and fitted. I splurged with a bunch of customs last time because I saved right?

my favorites are my Harry potter ones and I have some fun patterns. Can't wait to see them again!

We do.

We cloth diapered since DS was 3 wks old. Started with prefolds, Thirsties covers and Snappis. Then we went to Bum Genius Velcro/snaps then Bum Genius Elementals.

We CD our girls. BumGenius are our favorite, especially the All-in-Ones. They're the most simple in terms of prep and washing. I have some Alva and SunBaby pockets, but sometimes it's a PITA to restuff them each time. There are pros and cons to every type. I'd recommend you research which types will work best for you and your family. Also, I started out using a special CD detergent but had to strip the diapers way too often. I finally learned form various sources, both professional and personal, that regular detergent (dye and scent/softeners free) works best for getting your diapers 100% clean.

I wish! I would absolutely love to, but we are rocking the coin-op laundry at the moment so it just doesn't seem feasible. Hopefully with our next child we will be able to.

We have used Bumgenius, apple cheeks, fuzzibunz, grovia, and gdiapers.

I love the Bumgenius and gdiapers the best.

We plan on using those again this time. Might try some Charlie bananas this time around. Heard good things about them.

We use tots bots, Rumparooz, bum genius, and a few kawaii and alvas. We've used cloth from the time our first was 3 months and she's three now and only uses diapers at night. We also have a two year old.
I love cloth, I wouldn't do it any other way.

We CD our 2 year old daughter and will with this one as well. We didn't start with our daughter until she was about 6 months old but once we started we will never go back. I actually bought some newborn cds before I was even pregnant ( I still haven't told my husband that I have them yet). We use mostly Alva, happy flute and Sunbaby pockets during the day and fitteds at night.

We're planning on it, too! My mother is kindly making a pile for us (about 25 each in 4 different sizes, and the sizes are all adjustable). She tends to go "all in" for everything. Personally I'd try them first and then take the plunge, but I'm grateful for the thoughtfulness and effort.

We plan to use cloth diapers at home since I'll be a stay at home mommy for the 1st year but regular diapers while out and about.

I did a bit of research on them and how much better they are and how much money they save.

mom2xover2002 - we thought the same, but we actually found that it's easier to do all cloth or all disposable when out. I wound up making some cheap fleece wipes because it was so much easier to throw everything into the wet bag than to hope that the changing table was located near a trash can (it never is). Just an idea - you might have a different experience

We have tried BumGenius all in ones, prefolds and covers, Alva pockets and G-diapers with reusable liners. We actually like Alva pockets the best. All in ones take forever to dry in our dryer, whereas the pockets are done in under an hour and are simple to line dry if it's nice or if I have time.

I plan on using Grovia organic cotton ones. I love that they are USA made and my cousin is using them on her second and raves about them. Plus, my aunt said they would be my Christmas present.

We will use them again.

We have Tots Bots, BG, SunBaby, Kawaii and a few others. Tots are by far my fave, I just wish they weren't so expensive!

For the NB stage, I have Tots Tini Fits, a few NB BG's, Little Joeys, Thirsties covers, GMD prefolds and Workhorses.

I plan on using cloth. So far my stash is kawaiis and alva pockets I also have some kawaii covers. I plan on staying at home and figured I might as well try it to save money.

I'm planning to give it a try, but my husband isn't really on board. I get that and can appreciate where he's coming from. I plan to try them out while I'm on maternity leave (probably GMD workhorses with covers), and am fine with using disposables when he's home and helping. We both have pretty sensitive skin, so I'm guessing our baby will too. I've heard cloth can be easier on sensitive skin and yields fewer blowouts. Time will tell!

I second that the cloth diapering forum on here is full of good tips and knowledgeable ladies!

We're planning on it. I'm a FTM so I don't have any experience with them but based on my research, for our newborn stash I think we'll get Green Mountain prefolds with Rumparooz newborn covers, Lil Joeys and maybe a few Blueberry Simplex newborn. My cloth diaper store offers a newborn diaper trial but since we're starting from the beginning, I think it's makes the most sense for us to buy a newborn stash.

For our regular stash, I think we're going to get Green Mountain prefolds with Thirsty covers, Bumgenius Freetimes and some WAHM diapers from Etsy. I think I'll also get some Green Mountain workhorses and possibly some Kawaii's.

I applaud you all for using CD! I would consider it, but my husband does not like the idea of it. He thinks it's gross to have to clean up the poo. I don't think he understands how different it is than when we were babies. Just wait til our baby has a blowout and it all over the baby, him, the walls, the changing pad etc! He also has no idea how many diapers a baby goes through in one day. He thought it was like 2-3 times a day....silly man!

We do! I CD my other two as well. We do more of "part time" cloth thing- when we're home we use cloth, but for naps/bed and leaving the house we do disposables. We still have to buy disposables, but not as much as we would without the cloth. We use all bum genius 4.0s, with the snaps and love them. I had velcro at first, but it wore out and thankfully cottonbabies (cannot recommend them enough!!) replaced all my diapers with snap ones.

I have one rumparooz, and it's okay. The print is adorable, but I prefer the bum genius.

I also used Fuzzibunz, but sold them off after DS2 was born and replaced them with BGs. They just didn't work out for us as well.

We CDed the boys. We started with thirsties covers and green mountain diaper prefolds, then switched to bumgenius around 4 months. We thought we were done so we unloaded it all!

Is it true that babies end up with more rashes when using CD? I'm going to be a FTM and want to CD but don't want to subject my baby to that!

@diamond7986‌ not sure where you heard/read that, but it's actually less irritating to LO to wear cloth diapers, unless you didn't do an extra rinse on the wash cycle and there's still detergent in the diaper. Disposables contain all kinds of chemicals and perfumes that can be harsh. There are CD-friendly diaper creams/ointments if you need to use some, too, like Burt's Bees Baby Bee All-Purpose Ointment and CJ's BUTTer.

I would love to CD but LO will be in daycare. I assumed that it would be disposables only there because the only people I know that CD are SAHM's. Is that the case or no? Any experience with CD and childcare providers?

@Amaryllismagic‌ I follow quite a few moms on YouTube that used cloth while their children were in daycare. You just have to ask their policy and most likely get easy diapers for them, like AIO's. Also, they probably won't spray your diapers for you. They'll just give you the dirty ones to take home at the end of the day and you'll have to deal with them. It's definitely worth it to call and ask:)

Less, as long as you clean your diapers properly.

With DS, we used sposies until 5 months, it was like a constant rash. Once we switch to cloth? Not a rash to be seen.

Every LO is different though.

You will need to find a daycare that will do cloth. Those can be hard to find depending where you're located.

DS is in DC 3 days a week, and he's in disposables during his time there. I buy one giant box of disposables maybe every 3 months. So for us, CD still makes sense financially in the savings department.

For us, DS had little/no rashes when we switched to CD.

Pampers Dry Max was when DS was born. Some of those gave kiddos chemical burns.

I've heard it's less to no rashes and the LO ends up potty training faster. I dont know about the last part but it seems logical. Totally loving the green mountain workhouse diapers now at least for the newborn stage. Seriously if you haven't gotten on the CD board here on the bump do it! Lots of info there! Totally changed my opinion on what cd I want now.

Oh man, how I wish that was true! Sooooo not the case with my child.
