We STILL don't have a name for our baby girl! Help!

We can't decide. We have MAYBE narrowed it to three names and DH suggested doing a poll at our shower/sprinkle ...umm, no. So I thought I would ask you ladies instead. Things to consider: Middle name will be Marie (family name), we have a ds named Evan, and our last name is Spanish, 3 syllables, beginning with A. Thanks!

  • Love Juliana. If we were having a girl that would be one of my choices.

  • I picked Juliana because it's close to my first name! :)
  • I like all of your choices! I picked Juliana because I think it would sound best with a Spanish last name.
  • I love Juliana, but does it sound funny with your last name since it would be first name ending with an "A" and last name beginning with an "A"?  If it sounds okay, I would definitely go with Juliana.

  • I think they're all, good, solid names, and any of them would be a good choice.  I picked Alexis, primarily because I don't hear it that often for babies.  I hear Leah a lot (although I like it), and Juliana is very pretty.

It does sound okay because Juliana ends in an "uh" sound and our last names starts with more of "ah" sound (as in apple)...but it's SO LONG to me. I aways joke that it won't fit on a scantron! Do they even use those things anymore? haha...

  • I like Leah best of those names - it's sweet and simple, which is nice esp if they have a longer last name.  Juliana is also very pretty. The only one I didn't really care for is Alexis.  It reminds of a mean character on a soap opera. ;-)

  • Juliana is one of our top girl contenders, so I vote for that  :-bd

  • I would go for either Leah or Juliana, both are nice. I agree with @kyliedaniellexx that there are a lot of girls out there named Alexis going by Lexi, and for me I'm not a fan of Lexi. I also think that names where the first letter of the first and last name are the same can sound a bit weird. Our last name starts with a 'T' so we have eliminated all 'T' first names.

I agree with the Lexi thing...that's my one hesitation with Alexis, but I do like how it sounds alongside Evan as a sibling....so we'll see! ;)

  • I like all of them :) Juliana is my favourite. Alexis is a bit too trendy atm for me.... I have 3 or 4 friends with baby Lexi's right now.
Isn't that funny? And Leah was ranked higher on the SS website for 2013 than Alexis, though both are around top 40 names. Our ds name was in top 50 or so when we named him Evan, and we have only met one other Evan (born within a few months of our son). Interesting!

I love Julianna but any J name is off the table for us as all my nephews and my niece have J names.

I wouldn't worry about it going with your last name as she will most likely change it once she is married.

------ quote fail ------ Heh. We got some flack for name length. DD's first middle and last names combine for 21 letters. Coincidentally, her name is the same length as mine. I voted for Juliana, it's a beautiful name.
This one would be 19 letters combined, so right there with you! :)

I love Juliana too, but thought it may sound a little odd with an A last name, so I voted for Alexis.

As far as being long, DD1's name is Genevieve and our family got over it pretty fast. She prefers it to her nickname at school... until she has to write it. She also has a longish middle name, but we're the only ones who ever use that.

Dh and I think the Scantron has 13 letters and the only name we could come up with that was even close to too long was Agamemnon, the ancient Greek king. Yes, we had that discussion quite a while ago.

  • Slightly unrelated, but I just remembered a children's book I read once about a girl named "Chrysanthemum". From what I remember, the girl hated how long it was until her pregnant teacher used it for her daughter.

I love that book. I read it all the time to the kindergarten class I had during student teaching. They would beg me to read it. ;)

I like Juliana as well as long as you feel it goes with your last name... I wouldn't worry about the length. Before I got married my first and last name was 18 letters and fit everywhere lol.
