Spanx anyone?

I'm not trying to hide my bump... I actually love it! I work in a building without air conditioning and I need something to catch the sweat when I wear a dress or skirt. (Gross I know)I have a few pieces of shape wear that I'd usually wear but do you think it's ok to wear with baby? Would you wear them?

Re: Spanx anyone?

  • I wore maternity Spanx under a dress to a wedding so that my bump would be smooth. By the end of the night my stomach/ab muscles were killing me from being so constricted. I can't imagine doing that every day. I think they'd make you sweat more too.

I would just wear some cotton bike shorts our something similar. the idea of spanx sounds horrifying to me right now

This. I mostly wear dresses, and I always wear Dansko brand workout capris under them. They are cheap, stretchy, and moisture wicking :) My kids are determined to make me flash the world at really unfortunate times (like church) so I just always wear the capris under my clothes. That, and they keep the chub-rub away!

  • I tried my reg spanx last Sunday because I wore a thin dress... My belly was fine but my back killed me.
  • They make maternity spanx and a maternity shape wear at the motherhood. The one from the motherhood is like bike shorts but a thinner material. I like that one over the spanx.

  • I wouldn't want to go near spanx right now.....I'd be afraid of squishing my little bean.
  • Spanx does make maternity. However, I really, really prefer Motherhood Maternity shapewear. They are so comfy and help smooth you out. Highly recommend!
  • I actually wear shapewear daily since I wear bodycon dresses everyday but I wouldn't wear one that uber tight plus I was wearing them daily prior to baby so maybe I'm just used to it.

  • I really like the Spanx maternity line, although it probably helps that I got them at a really good discount during the half yearly sale. I wore them because I knew I'd be walking around all day yesterday, and it sounds weird but I think they help my posture or something because while I was ready to take them off, I was less sore than I would have been.
  • I wear spanx occasionally and haven't found them to be too tight or uncomfortable. Maybe it's because I'm not super big yet or I'm just used to wearing them, but I find the support of them to be nice. We'll see how I feel about the tightness in a few weeks when my bump gets bigger though.

  • I would stick to cotton only near the lady bits and as few layers as possible. Anything else is only going to trap moisture and make you more sweaty. Spanx always makes me feel too warm because they don't breathe. I would not want to risk a yeast infection.

Try to wear looser maxi skirts and dresses so you get more air flow. Check out ASOS and Pink Blush Maternity. They usually have some flowy breezy styles.
  • I have maternity Spanx that I like, but I have one complaint. There is no crotch hole! Who the hell designs shapewear for pregnant women and doesn't leave a hole for easy potty access!? Doing a pee pee dance in a bathroom stall while trying to pull them down is not my idea of fun.
  • I have maternity spanx and they aren't uncomfortable.
  • I just bought pregnancy spanx for a bridesmaid dress I need to squeeze in to next month. It is a cruel cruel woman who makes her pregnant friend wear a bright purple satin dress.
  • I ordered this from Amazon based on reviews because people were saying the spanx gets thin or runs at the belly part, haven't tried it on yet

  • I wear maternity leggings under everything. They are tight enough to "catch the sweat" (which is a gross but great description!) but they aren't too tight or constricting.
  • I wore spanx to a wedding this weekend.  Granted they were an older stretched out pair and I wore them to avoid VPL and chaffing.

Hahaha at least I know I won't be the only one. I've got to get mine altered this week as well. The satin isn't so kind on my pregnancy cellulite ridden butt and thighs!
