Trying to Get Pregnant

At the 1 year mark...

Hello ladies. I've been ttc for a year now. I am 32 years old and this will be my first child. My hub and I have been together for 13 years and married for a little over a year. To keep it short we are past the party stage and ready to have a family. We both got checked and seem to be just fine. Iv been using opks and charting my cycle to know when the right time is. Well next week will be one year since we have started and still no baby :(. I bought the clear blue advanced opk with the flashing smiley and I don't think I am going to ovulate this month. I am on cd26 with 13 straight days of high estrogen but no peak. I am at the end of my rope. Anyone have this Happen to them? Just need some peace of mind. Thank you!!!

Re: At the 1 year mark...

  • Welcome. I agree with the above posters. See an RE & start temping. Those two things will help you figure out what's going on.

  • Haven't tried temping. Thought the opks would be enough to pinpoint my o. Yes I went to my OB when we started trying. They did a sonogram and ultrasound and said I was very fertile. Lots of eggs. They also did a blood test and said everything came back normal. My hubs got his sperm checked and he is also what they say is considered "normal" thanks for replying!!!
  • Wow I should have posted about this a long time ago. Thank you so much. I will be making an appt with a fertility specialist this week.
  • Thank you I will be doing that ASAP any idea where I can get a thermometer for this?
  • Welcome and I'm glad you were already able to get some great advice. Good luck moving forward.

  • Linny it is super frustrating but since it's only been a year I figured this was normal since that's what everyone says. I have about every app out there I'm running out of space on my phone lol but I'll be sure to start temping and keeping track. And hopefully RE dr can shed some light on what's going on. Really appreciate everyone responses and advice!
  • Yes this will be the first and last time using that test. Total waste. I'm getting the bbt therm tomorrow. Hope to get some answers soon! Question- when do you start temping? After AF like the opks?
  • Welcome! I've noticed that many women on this board who use the CB Advanced OPK have the same problem you're having with it. I use the ClearBlue Digital Ovulation tests (the one that gives you 2 peak days with a solid smiley). They seem to be less confusing than the "Advanced" one that gives you 4 fertile days. Just my opinion though. Also, don't get the Target brand BBT. It's junk.

  • Iv always used the regular one this is the first month I switched to the advanced thinking this would be more accurate. Geez to think iv been doing this wrong for a whole year makes me want to cry! Iv been reading so many different experiences it becomes over whelming. So I just tried to relax and let things happen the way they are supposed to. I'm glad I came on here and posted my experience. Thanks again everyone

You can temp all throughout your cycle if you temp orally. If you temp vaginally, many women like to take AF off and resume temping when its done. You will want to keep temping at least until you confirm O. Many like to temp until AF arrives as you can see a drop in temps before AF arrives.

I'm sure the newbie blog has been mentioned, its at the top of TTGP, it has some valuable temping info.

  • Welcome! I'm glad to see you're receptive to all this excellent advice, and I hope the RE can give you some answers.

I second reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility, especially if you're new to temping. It is a wealth of information. Good luck!

  • Welcome. I'm glad you are here. I'm almost at the year mark myself and only just started temping this cycle. Does my tardiness to temping make me want to kick myself? Sure. But since self-injury won't actually help in getting pregnant, I've moved on from the self-loathing. Best wishes to you! I hope to see you on the WTO and TWW boards (I've learned so, so much from the veteran ladies here!)

    TTC since Sept. 2013
