An obstetrician is a physician who has successfully completed specialized education and training in the management of pregnancy, labor, and pueperium (the time-period directly following childbirth).
Unfortunately, your OB cannot be at your beck and call every minute of every day. While him being there would of course be preferred, if he is unavailable, they will have the on call OB deliver your baby.
You can schedule tours and all sorts of classes through most hospital websites. If that's not an option for yours, just give them a call. I'm pretty sure they all do some sort of basic tour.

Or they might guarantee it - and then be in San Francisco when the time comes!
We never did a hospital tour. We meant to but somehow never got around to it.
