Monday Randomness

Seeing the 349 new posts in the random thread and not sure when I will have the time to catch up with all of it today, so thought I might start a Monday free for all for anyone else wanting to chime in.

My random: I fed a baby for the first time on Friday (my friend's 5-month-old son)!!! And I don't even think he'll need long-term counseling from the experience!

I want to be a SAHM, but we can't afford it. I was so sad bringing DD into daycare this morning. I'm home with her on Fridays and I feel like it's almost harder come Monday when I just had three days in a row with her.

I'm hoping to come back to work at 3 days a week after maternity leave (it makes more sense financially for me to work 3 days instead of 4 because of daycare savings) and I feel stressed about money already. I feel like I need to find something to do from home to make extra cash. I just want it all (I'm sure we all do); lots of money and extra time with my kids. I hate worrying about money.

I ate an entire pizza last night and it did not go well. Not like a huge large one but definitely bigger than a "personal" size pizza. I'm still really grossed out about it.

My random. So DH emailed his parents and sister about the baby being too big for gestational age. Granted, he didn't really play up what it really means, just that it's something we're concerned about, that I feel I'm to blame due to my T1 (along with a little blurb about how I'm doing a great job and he's proud of me, awwww, mush), that this may mean an earlier delivery and may increase the likelihood of a Csection. He attached a pic of the u/s.

MIL didn't respond.

SIL responded with a comment about how cute the pic was and where should we go eat for her bday dinner when we're in town.

I mean, WTF? I'm still really pissed/hurt by their lack of anything. I don't expect a lot but maybe show a little concern? Ask a question?

At least MIL didn't respond with a bonehead response of "OH goodie, I can meet my grandSON even sooner". Haha.

I don't think everyone gets the severity of some things during pregnancy. When my husband told his HR lady that I had sudden pre-e last time. She clapped her hands and said good for her. He didn't have the heart to tell her it wasn't good.

Yeah, I'm trying to give them the benefit of the doubt and trying not to let it get under my skin too much.

I want Peanut Butter M&Ms so I went to the vending machine. I put the exact amount of money in, pressed the specific code for said candy, and NOTHING. It beeped at me and told me "please make another selection."

I wish vending machines had cameras and could tell it's dealing with an (almost) 7 month pregnant woman.

Not happy!!

Dh and I took DD2 to lunch the other day. The waitress was chatting with her and DD2, who will be 4 in a couple weeks, suddenly blurts out "You're kind of brownish." (The waitress was African American.) I wanted to crawl in a hole, but thankfully the waitress laughed it off.

Thank goodness she didn't hear DD2 a few minutes later when we were waiting for our food. "When is that brown lady gonna bring our food?" We started to purposely use the waitress' name after that.

I feel like a gross slobby bearded lady. The whole "your hair grows super fast while pregnant" thing is great, what's not great is the peach fuzz on the sides of my face along my jaw line is also growing super fast and I look like I have sideburns. Gross. And every shirt I own has a stain on the belly because EVERYTHING lands there, so that's awesome too.

Random vent, sorry...
I have a BRAND NEW Samsung Galaxy S5... like, less than 2 months. And every night this weekend the battery went from fully charged at bedtime to literally dying from dead battery before I got up.
The culprit? Facebook. Today it used 79% of my battery today alone and I haven't even touched my phone before now!
So much for getting a new phone for a stronger battery, I should have just uninstalled FB from my old S3!
Ok, I feel better now, thanks for tuning in!

@lovebuggies1 - I just wore a black skirt and black tanktop to the co-ed one this weekend. But it was a BBQ so I guess it was probably less formal. Probably going to wear a maxi dress or something similar to the family one in a few weeks. I'm just so not in the mood to dress up. (I did straighten my hair AND wear makeup, so there's that).

@dimples0101 - I hear you on the SAHM bit. I think I would really like to, but I just don't know how feasible it is. I think it's great you have the option of coming back part time, though. That seems like a great compromise.

Yeah, I'm definitely lucky. My work is pretty accommodating. And the great thing about being part time is that DD and LO will get to see their friends a few days a week and I will get to eat, go to the bathroom and get coffee whenever I want. Plus, I'm sure I will welcome the adult interaction.

I really want to ask about the possibility of me being part time when I return from Mat leave, but I don't know how to approach it with my boss. I don't want them to hear "PT or nothing", i just want to know if the option is there.

I wish I had the option of PT as well but even if my job DID offer it, there's no way I'd be able to afford it. Heck, at this point, I'd like to just work my scheduled 9-5 and no overtime which would probably FEEL part time anyway!

@fHstar81 sorry DD won't nap. My DS will not nap when we have him at home, but he always naps like a champ at daycare...I guess they wear him out better than we do

My random...I was asking DS (3 yo) silly questions yesterday and asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up. He said "I want to have bigger feet." Kids crack me up.

@hidingangel82 - it's the new video setting for fb. You noticed how now if you scroll over a posted video it automatically starts playing, that's your problem. It's also eating up your data! Go to settings, click on the facebook icon, then settings and under video-click auto-play and change the setting to off (to preserve your battery) or to wifi only (to preserve your data). Changing it to off will save both. Hope this helps you

I totally get it. While i have been a SAHM for almost 18 months now, it's been tight lately, financially wise. Dh has had some slow weeks at work, groceries seem to be getting more expensive, bills seem to keep pilling up, and it stresses me out! I would love to use some of my artsy crafty talents to start a little home business, but i feel the market is flooded with other SAHM doing the exact same things. All i can say is thank God for savings. And to all you moms talking about how your husbands keep making large purchases without thinking or consulting you, i get that too. Not too long after ds was born in March 13 my dh came home with a new Chevy Silverado. Even though we needed a newer safer vehicle he took it upon himself to just go get one. Almost 40,000 grand. While i love our truck it has been one of the main reasons money has been tight lately, it's monthly payment is huge. That was a little vent and i feel better. If only money grew on trees, i'm am excellent gardener.

DH did buy himself a new truck on the day he proposed to me. We call it his engagement truck. However, I knew he was going to buy it in the near future and at that point we hadn't combined finances so I didn't care all that much.

Now, we're like, "Yo, I want to buy these $50 sneakers, that cool?" Haha.

DH just called and said someone in his family is getting rid of a rocking chair, asked if I wanted it.

I love rocking chairs, sure they may not be as comfy as a glider, but I could sit in one for hours...lol. I have a thing for porch swings too.

Not sure where we'll put it yet, but we are getting it.

We closed on our new house this morning, which is super exciting and it still doesn't feel real. However, now I'm just feeling overwhelmed with all of the stuff we have to do in the next week. Carpets cleaned Thursday, painting Friday and Saturday, baby shower Sunday, renting Uhaul and moving Monday...all while being pregnant is gonna suck. I'm the type of person who won't stop working until something is done, but not being able to lift and move all of our stuff is really going to frustrate me!!! Not to mention it's going to be hot as hell this weekend. I know I should stop bitching and be grateful that we have our home now...I just feel like bitching! Thank you for letting me bitch!

I've ruined 3 new shirts in the last couple of weeks the same way! And of course none of the stains came out! Who knew I was such a sloppy eater? (Couldn't possibly be that I'm shoving food in my face at record pace).

So, another random... we're prepared for the fact of, with how big this baby is, we WILL be delivering one week early at least, with the possibility of two weeks early... which means I could be holding LO in 9.5 weeks (Oct 29th)...
I'm already in the single digits!
