Re: Pregnancy Check-in (August 25)

  • Hello! Please add me to the list, due May 1st:)

Wife has no symptoms yet and there's not much to report.

I am most looking forward to our son becoming a sibling and experiencing that interaction.  He was a tough, tough newborn...so can't say I'm looking forward to that particular stage of life, but grateful for the chance to welcome a new baby and watch him/her grow!

  • I'm a bit over 12 weeks today :) So far, feeling good.  Very hungry as usual.  I'm thinking a big bowl of spaghetti with meatballs sounds excellent for dinner.  I've been eating like a warrior and still losing weight.  It's insane.  I think it's the product of being obese.  I did some research and apparently your metabolism raises from 15-20% so for me that means an extra 450-550 calories per day.  That's a couple Hershey bars on top of my normal diet.  Or a couple big bowls of Raisin Bran.  You get the idea.

GTKY: I'm looking forward to watching our baby grow the first year.  They start out so small and grow rapidly.  It will be amazing to witness that day by day, taking pictures, watching how much they change :)

  • I am 13w2d feeling better have been getting my energy back and stomach isn't bothering me too much unless I eat to much at one time then I feel like poop.  Today someone asked me if I was pregnant.  Such a rude question!.  Of course I didn't directly answer them I just asked what would make them think I was apparently I have developed a bit of a bump/blump.  NT scan is on Wednesday which I am anxious to hear everything is okay so far.  I have some questions for the MFM so hopefully I remember to ask them.

I am most looking forward to watching them develop and change and when they become a little more mobile and start to really play.

  • DW is 18 weeks.

She thought maybe she felt something, but no confirmed baby activity yet. That's what I'm really excited about. No news other than that.  Waiting for next exciting appointment, which is baby's echocardiogram.

  • Hello all!
I am currently off from work for a week, which of course my body decided was a great time to get a stomache bug. I have been sick all day! Boo!
Other than that, little Squints is squirmy and I am startin to know where the feet and head are based on where I am feel movements.
We met with our doula last week to start hypnobirthing classes and that was a bit nerve wracking. When it comes down to it, I really can't imagine myself actually giving birth. This may be a problem... Must work on it!

QOTD: I am looking forward to smiles and laughs! Watching my wife bond with the baby is also going to be amazing... And watching my parents meet their new grandbaby. Squints will be their first grandbaby and I think they are going to be so excited!

QOTW: What are you most looking forward to in the first year of your little one's life?
Feeling...alright.  It's getting tricky.  Days are moving slowly now.  On bedrest and that sounds so much more luxurious than it is.  Circulation isn't doing it's job so well lately.  But nursery is about done, right off our room though the babies will room with us.  We are getting so excited to meet them and learn who they are, what they look like, what they enjoy and watch them interact with their big brothers.  So close now.  Our OB thinks we won't make it past September so if she's right, 4-5 weeks max.  Whoa.
The first year- it will be amazing to just watch them grow and learn about the world and teach us all about them.

  • Hello,

We're over halfway and this pregnancy is still treating us well.  Mostly just trying to find a balance between relaxing for baby's benefit and trying to prove to my boss that nothing has changed and I'm every bit as hard working as I've always been (I don't know why I do this to myself)
And A has just found out that we don't need to be married for her to qualify for parental leave.  She gets the usual two weeks paid and can apply for up to 26 more depending on when I go back to work.  We think it would be nice to split our leave, so she can have some more time with the baby.

In the first year with baby, I think what we're looking forward to the most are the (probably rare) quiet moments of being together as a family.  It's always the pauses in life that feel the most satisfying.
  • 15w3d. Feeling better over allZ. SCH tricked us and made us think it was stopping only to start again! Got some work done over weekend cleaning out the office that will become the nursery. We've been trying yo babyize the house. Figure that's something we can do now. Still feeling very scared like we could loose them at any moment, so it's stollen the joy of pregnancy. Reading this dang book by Dr. Luke didn't help either. Chapter this weekend I read was on everything that COULD go wrong and what happens if babies are born at 28, 30, 32, 34, 36 and 38 weeks.

Qotw: looking forward to first smiles, first giggles, solid foods, crawlin first words, walking, interaction with family and pets!

    10 medicated IUI's (3 with injectables).
IUI #1 (medicated) Jan. 2013-BFP!!!!- Beta's didn't double, MTX shot for possible ectopic.
    8 IUI's between April 13-April 14 = BFN
IUI #10 and final before IVF, injectables May 2014- BFP!!!!  TWINS!!!!

7 week ultrasound showed 2 wonderful heartbeats!
8 weeks to the ER with vaginal bleeding while on vacations!  Diagnosed SubChorionic Hemorrhage.  Babies are both great.
9 week ultrasound showed both babies are still great.
  • I simply cannot believe we are next in line!  I am 39 weeks today!  I had an appointment with our midwife yesterday and I am 1cm dilated, over 80% effaced and a negative 2 station.  So the baby has moved down for sure and my cervix is almost totally soft and thinned out.  I go to bed every night thinking it could be the night I go into labor.  We finally have our bags packed and are ready except the foster home that had agreed to take M and K cannot take them until after the 29th, so if I go into labor before then I am not for sure where they are going.  I am more stressed about who is going to take care of the girls than I am about labor and delivery.  I might hit me all at once, but for now I am pretty chill about it and I trust my body will do what it is supposed to do.

QOTD:  I am most excited to see what baby Adalyn looks like and even though our life is going to be crazy I am hoping to have a feeling of completion with having M and K and then also Adalyn.

  • 31 weeks today! Our October 28 due date is looming closer than ever!

This morning Callie was super active from 5-8 am. Then we took a nap :) It's so nice to have time off of work to rest and enjoy these days and being pregnant.

I'm definitely starting to "feel" pregnant. I can't stand up as much as I used to, for as long as used to. But, that said, I'm trying to stay active in short bursts. Yesterday I worked in the garden some- just some light weed pulling- and what a TERRIBLE idea that ended up being.

QOTW: I'm most excited to see this little baby's face. Since we used her brother as the donor, I'm so hoping this little baby looks a lot like her. That, on top of the second parent adoption, well that would just be perfection!

  • I think it's been a couple weeks since I last did a check-in...

I'm 17+1 today and still have a hard time believing that I'm actually carrying a baby in there. I think when I feel him/her move, it will become more real, for sure.

We have our anatomy scan on 9/15, but we won't find out until 9/27. We're having the tech write it down and seal it in an envelope that we plan to give to a friend. We are arranging a dinner at a restaurant with the people closest to us and we'll have cake and some cheesy pink/blue buttons or something that people can choose in order to cast their vote. Our friend will arrange for a cake from our favorite bakery, and also purchase an outfit reflective of whatever the envelope says and wrap it up. We'll open it up at dinner and find out along with everyone else what we're having.

I was diagnosed with GD a few weeks ago, as my doctor had me do an early GTT due to my weight. The diagnosis sucks, and trying to get a handle on the numbers and testing and what to eat sucks even more, but, I'm willing to do whatever it takes for a healthy baby.

QOTW - I think I'm most looking forward to joining our other friends who have babies/young children for playdates and such. And also towards baby's first WDW trip, which will happen in September of next year (along with a Disney cruise).

    IUI #1 - November 2013 - BFN
    ICI #1 (home) - May 2014 - BFP!! Beta #1 - 5/30 - 164; Beta #2 - 6/6 - 4794!!!

  • Hi!  I'm checking back in because I love Wednesdays--that's the day when baby is officially one week older!

She is 19 weeks now (WHAT?!) and I'm over the moon. And DW felt the baby move yesterday!  A couple times!  I'm so, so, so thrilled. Plus, Baby W now knows that there is a "baby in Mommy's belly," so he looks at her tummy and says, "be-be."  Cutest ever.  I mean, it's a little over-the-top cute.  Like, others would roll their eyes at how silly we get when we see this. We know he doesn't really get it, or we don't think he does, but it is still so darling.  He really likes babies right now, too.
