rewards credit card?

For those OOP ladies, did you use a rewards credit card to earn something back on this huge price tag?
Which one did you use?

Thinking about signing up for an Amazon one, or one for miles...but I've heard the mileage ones can be difficult to use.

Re: rewards credit card?

  • We use a rewards card that I got through my credit union. It's a card on a points system, which is just eh for me. We were able to use some of our points to lower our closing costs when we refinanced our house last year (to pay for IVF), but other than that we haven't cashed in our points. Hopefully we'll be able to get something nice with them once this is all said and done.

  • We have a capital one venture card that gets 2 miles for every dollar spent that we are planning on using. I've had the card for the past 4 years or so and haven't found it hard to redeem miles. You can get money back for the miles, book travel through capital one using them, or get reimbursed for travel already purchased.

  • We've been using a Chase Sapphire card because you can use the points for all airlines.
Ready to take the road less traveled.
  • *hypothetical LO mentioned*

We got the amazon card- before we even knew we were doing IVF. And for us, we put nearly everything on that card just because the rewards are so worth it to us. We buy a lot on amazon! Hoping we can eventually buy baby items through amazon, with the rewards we've built up from medical bills.
  • We used a bank of america card that gave cash back and just put it towards the bill. We also had 0% interest for 15-16 months.  I forget exactly how many months because it was an odd amount.
Me 27 DH 29 Married since 2007, together since 2001
Off BC since Febuary 2006 3 Clomid Cycles in 2008- symptomatic, US just showed a tilted uterus, otherwise normal, HSG normal.  DH has an ejaculatory duct obstruction and a congenital absence of the vas deferens.  This is common with cystic fibrosis carriers, but he doesn't have cystic fibrosis. IVF #1 with TESE/ICSI (Antagonist protocol) Aug 2014=BFN (poor embryo quality)   IVF #2 ICSI long lupron protocol November 2014

  • I use capital one venture and it's so easy to redeem my rewards. I use to use a marriott rewards but I like capital ones ability to use for all travel. We actually took a trip during mardi gras and paid for our destin beach vacation with all the reward points I've racked up.

I actually did some research before getting it and supposedly it's the top rated card as far as rewards but there was another I saw once on the today show that was slightly better but only for those who have a+ credit score. I took a pic of it because I wanted to get it but I forgot and must have deleted the pic. My brain doesn't work well these days.
    Fucking bump!!!!
