How many oz gained per week?

I'm trying to keep track of DDs weight and wondering, on average, how many ozs your LOs are gaining per week?

Re: How many oz gained per week?

  • Average is 4-7oz at the point

  • Thank you @mrsbtobe20122 and @laura3462. I am concerned because my LO isn't quite gaining the average. At this point my pedi isn't concerned, but I am.
  • Why are you concerned? How is little ones growth concerning you? Where do they fall on the charts?

If your pedi isn't then either there is no need for concern. But if you are then get a second opinion.
  • I've read 5-7 oz a week but also 1-1.5 lbs per month.

  • I have absolutely no idea. DD never cries, unless she's hungry. After she eats, she's happy. That's good enough for me!

  • Thank you @florassecret. I guess I'm concerned because my family comments on how small she is. Pedi said she falls just right under average. I guess I'm concerned because my family has also commented about maybe she's not getting enough to eat EBF. She is happy after eating and seems satisfied. I am letting me insecurities (and others opinions) creep in.
  • My lo is FF so I know its probably different but my DD is 12lbs 5oz at 3 months. She was 8lbs 2oz at birth. Gaining slow?
  • If your pedi isnt worried I wouldn't either. I have a perfectly healthy 7.5 year old that only weighs 43 pounds. Shes just little and always has been. This LO is 16 weeks and weighs 12.5, she will probably be small too.
  • Thank you everyone, seriously thank you for helping me squash these worries. Being a FTM and listening to the opinions of boisterous families sunk me a bit. Thanks for pulling me up!
  • @thefussybunch‌ I completely understand how you feel. My family likes to give me opinions also. My sister had me in tears saying my DD should be tracking objects and saying she may have eye problems. She was a month and a half at the time. My lo is just fine!

If babe is healthy and thriving size doesn't matter. Its all details.

I get the opposite. Joke is that DS doesn't miss a meal. And that he's huge when I tell people he's 3 and half months. Personally I don't think he's big. He's got rolls yes, but he's long.
  • Mine is EBF and little too. I get comments from complete strangers about how tiny she is. Really upsetting. I just keep reminding myself that she has plenty of wet and dirty diapers, is gaining each week, and seems satisfied. The pedi isn't worried.

Mine is FF too.  9lb 1oz at birth and 15lbs at 3 months.  She's huge.  All kids are different.  Trust your pediatrician or find a new one.

Good point. If you don't trust your provider's opinion, get another one. There needs to be trust in that relationship.

FWIW. LO was 6lb14 oz at birth, is 15lb 5oz now at 14 weeks. EBF.
