Trouble TTC

Is it too early to have a 16 mm follicle on CD 8 already?? UPDATE: It's a cyst :P

edited August 2014 in Trouble TTC
I'm at work and on mobile so I'm gonna make this as quick as I can. I went in today and I have one follicle that's 16mm and another that is 12mm. I'm only on CD 8 so to me this seems really fast, especially for the 16mm! I know this cycle I started Puregon (Follistim) but still. They told me to pick up my Ovidrel from the pharmacy tonight just in case. What the???

  • I'm sure you'll hear from more knowledgeable people about your specific meds, but I did just have to cancel an IUI because I ovulated on my own on CD12 after taking clomid 50mg. (I usually ovulate CD15 on my own, so the RE's nurses scheduled me for a u/s on CD13… during which I found out that it was too late to do the IUI.) Anyway, the nurse told me it was a big one (something about it being in the process of "collapsing")--which would mean that it was probably already pretty big on CD8. So--not unheard of!

Being prepared with the Ovidrel is probably a good idea. And it's great that your RE's office scheduled you for the u/s early to catch this! Good luck to you!

  • Sounds pretty awesome to me! Natural cycles even, it's possible to ovulate normally around CD7-8, so hopefully this is just an amazing, helpful little egg moving your cycle along nicely. :)

I'm pretty sure my first scans were on CD8 with my IUIs on Follistim.  I had some pretty close to being mature, and even triggered on CD9 a few times.

  • I go back in tomorrow so I don't know what my blood work results are. I had an ultrasound on Friday and I had 15 follicles all measuring less then 8mm. I didn't think any of them would have grown 8 mm in 3 days! I picked up the Ovidrel so I'm ready to go whenever they tell me to go!

  • This is my first round of Gonal f which is FSH, I have no experience with Follistism. I go tomorrow for CD 8 ultrasound...at CD 6 I had an 11 and a couple 10's and a 9 and an 8. They reduced my dosage, did they mention maybe doing that?

  • Today's ultrasound shows that 16mm follicle wasn't a follicle at all. It's a cyst. They said its small so I shouldn't have to worry about it. Right now the 12 mm follicle from yesterday is now 15 mm, and I have 2 other follicles that are both 8 mm.

  • maybe it wasn't there at baseline and the cyst is from the Puregon injects? I'm just guessing I didn't think to ask when I was there.
