Meds (estrogen) question

Hi ladies! I need some insight. I'm gearing up for an FET in a couple months and the typical protocol at my clinic is the estrogen patches. I used these in my fresh IVC cycle (because i was a Lupron trigger) and had a hell of a time with my insurance company over them (since they are intended for menopause).....(and please forgive me; I know I'm lucky to have insurance coverage at all). Anywho I asked my Dr about using the estrogen pills this time (they switched me at 7 weeks last time).... He said that would be fine and there is no data to support one is better than the other. But of course, my neortic self is questioning if this is the case, why do they typically go with the patches??? Wondering what everyone else has used? I'd appreciate any insight or experiences if you've got them!!! Thank you

    I was always on the patches. I just figured they were the easiest to use so that's why they prescribed them.

    I never did a FET, but used Estrace (vaginally and orally) several times. GL!
    TTC in 2009, Dx: Unexplained IF
    Three TI cycles (BFP...miscarriage), five IUI attempts and 2.5 IVF cycles later...BFP!!
    12dp5dt: 765; 15dp5dt: 1979; 17dp5dt: 3379...TWINS!!!!!
    Our perfect baby boys were born at 36w1d!!

    My FETs have always been with estrogen pills. Good question about pills vs. patches...I assume they must be absorbed pretty much equally as well since both are used so routinely for FETs, but I haven't seen any studies. Wishing you lots of luck with the cycle!
    IUIs #1-3 (1x unmedicated, 2x Clomid) = 2 BFNs, 1 m/c at 7w3d
    IUIs #4-6 (injects) = 3 BFNs
    IVF #1 = BFN
    FET #1 = BFN
    FET #2 = BFN
    IVF #2 = BFP, b/g twins lost at 20w due to partial abruption/PPROM
    IVF #3 = c/p 5w2d
    Long-shot Clomid/Prednisone cycle before next IVF = BFP, our beautiful, healthy girl born 6/26/13!

    I think the pills may upset some people's stomach. I have done both and had no problems with either.
    TTC since June 2011
    DH diagnosed with Testicular Cancer 8/2010
    Low sperm count. Only option IVF with ICSI
    Starting First cycle Jan/Feb 2012- Canceled due to not responding to BCP and/or Lupron
    IVF 1.2- stims March 14, ER March 24, 16 R 10F 6 made it to blast
    ET March 29- transferred two blasts, 4A and 4BA, froze 4
    Positive HPT 9dp5dt Beta 1- 385 11dp5dt
    u/s April 25- one healthy heartbeat
    EDD 12/12/12>

    I've only done one FET and I'm using pills AND patches....

    Many IUI's with various meds all BFFN
    IVF #1 11/11 canceled due to OHSS
    IVF #2 Feb/March 2012 ET of 2 on day 3 4/7 BFP! 5/1 u/s blighted ovum
    IVF #3 July 2012 ET of 3 on day 3 7/24 BFP!

    Grayson arrived via emergency c-section on 7/28/12!

    TTC #2 
    IUI's #1 - #4 Follistim = BFN's
    IVF #1 w/ ICSI + PGS: Lupron/Follistim/Menopur
    ER 4/13 - 19R, 13F, 4 PGS tested embryos, 1 normal
    5/14 FET: BFP. Beta #1: 123, Beta #2: 327, Beta #3: 854
    Cora arrived 1/23/15 via RCS!

    I've always used delestrogen (IM injection) for my FET. I pay OOP because my insurance only covers estrace (probably a cost thing). I've responded well with little side effects to the shots and they are my REs preference.

    2/12-5/12: 4 IUI cycles = all BFN;
    7/12: DE IVF # 1 (with ICSI)- 20R, 16M, 14F, 5DT of 2 blasts; 6 frosties = BFN;
    Lupus anticoagulant initially high, then found to be normal on hematology consult;
    Follow up testing in September all clear;
    Started synthroid for "high normal" TSH;
    FET # 1- late October 2012- BFP on FRER; beta # 1- 21(low), beta # 2- 48 (still low), beta # 3- 132, beta # 4- 1,293; beta # 5- 5,606; last beta- over 100,000. First u/s 11/21- heard heartbeat
    12/12- Officially an OB patient!
    Level 2 ultrasound at 20 weeks shows vasa previa and VCI
    Referral to MFM and mandatory c section for delivery
    Beautiful baby girl born at 34 weeks
    Finally home after 15 day NICU stay!
    Trying for sibling: FET # 2- May 2014; beta 5/31, BFN
    FET #3, early July 2014; beta 7/14, BFN
    DE IVF # 2- August 2014; 14R, 13M, 11F, 5dt of 2 blasts (3 AA), 5 frosties = BFN
    FET #4- December 2014, yet another BFN

    Dr. KK work up shows borderline uterine blood flow, elevated NK cells, and MTHFR mutation (homozygous for c677t)

    Added baby aspirin, prednisone, supplements, Metanx, and intralipids

    Switched to large clinic for final attempt; had endometrial receptivity testing in January; FET March 2015 = yet another BFN

    Likely OAD- NBC

    My insurance won't cover estrogen or progesterone in any form unless I'm actually pregnant.  The cheap bastards.  Anyway, for my IVF I used patches but also only used them after the transfer I think but for my FET I am taking the pills.  I didn't ask why the change but I'm wondering if they can sometimes control the dose easier with the pills vs patches.  Like, they can't tell you to cut the patch in half but can tell you to take another pill each day if your level isn't high enough prior to the transfer.  But, honestly, I just don't know.  Both my IVF and FET got me pregnant so I don't think it made any difference for me.

    Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.
