How long does your LO nurse for?

DS is almost 6 weeks. He's always had shorter nursing sessions, 10-15 minutes tops. The last few days though his nursing sessions have only been 8-10 minutes. If I try to get him to nurse longer than that he just fusses and gets mad. He seems content when he's done, and is going 3 hrs in between feedings during the day and at night has one long 5 or 6 hour stretch of sleep. He has 8-10 wet diapers a day and is pooping about every other day. He has his 2 month pedi visit in a couple of weeks, so we will be able to check his weight gain then. Is it possible he's getting all of the milk he needs in that short period of time? Do any of your LOs have short nursing sessions like that? Tia!

    My guy is 12 weeks old; he regularly goes 15 & 15 or more! DD was the same way. I don't produce much milk, so I think it takes them awhile to get it. And if I nurse for less, DS can't last 3 hrs to the next feeding. Maybe you have good boobs or an efficient eater- lucky!!

    @kdelgado03, I wouldn't worry about it. It seems completely normal. I had similar concerns and qeustions when it started happening, but it just ended up that he LO was a good nurser and I was producing a lot of milk where he would get a lot in a shorter amount of time. I'm sure you're doing just fine :)

    @mshukh‌ thanks for the feedback. I had it in my head that there was just no way that LO could be satisfied and full in such little time, and have been worrying all week. I'll just keep an eye on his diaper output, and let him be as long as he's happy!

    It seems like you're doing a great job, OP!  All the good signs are there so just keep at it.  As difficult as it is, try to watch the baby and not the clock.  I still get caught up that sometimes now that my LO is done in 5ish mins but baby will let you know if he's still hungry.

    Dd is four months in the morning when my supply is greater she will nurse for 8-10 at night she will nurse about 20 minutes and stop after my second let down

    My DS started at 30-40 minute feeds on either breast (not both for that feed time). Now at just barely under 10wks he is down to 5-7 minutes per breast, sometimes, he's even done after the first breast and doesn't want anything to do with the other...which makes me have to pump that one to make up for it.

    Even when I have to pump, I can't pump longer than 8-10 minutes because no more milk will come out and I have at least 3-4oz.

    It is normal! Babe will let you know if he's still hungry or not.

    Thank you for all of the feedback ladies, it is very reassuring. I've been reminding myself to try and not pay too much attention to the clock. DS is happy and full, and just a quick eater!
