Storing honey

This may sound ridiculous, but I'm not sure. Someone gave us a 2lb jar of honey. I want to keep some at work for tea. Can I just store it in one of those tiny Rubbermaid food storage containers? It won't get weird in the plastic, right?

Re: Storing honey

  • The jar just says "natural honey" from a place nearby.

  • Loading the player...
  • It is very cloudy compared to what I had in the cabinet. It also tastes better.

  • Our honey container (that it came in) is plastic, so I think plastic is fine.

We store honey in the spice cabinet, but my ILs store it in the fridge. That's so weird to me because honey doesn't go bad at room temp. If it crystallizes, you can microwave it for a few seconds.
  • Ummmmm they have found pots of still edible honey in tombs in Egypt. I think you're fine to use pretty much any container you want :)
