Sex in early pregnancy

DH and I are on a little weekend getaway without DD. I know he want to have sex and so do I but I am just so nervous.

When I had my miscarriage we had our first ultrasound and saw the heartbeat, so I thought I had no worries. We had sex the next night and by the next morning I had started bleeding. I miscarried 2 days later.

I know my miscarriage had nothing to do with sex but it still freaks me out! So have you ladies had sex early on and what calmed your nerves?

I'm not sure anything calmed my nerves, but I just did what I was comfortable with.

In the beginning we abstained for a while, probably until I was about 8-9wks. Then the first few times we had "gentle sex/movie style romance" for lack of a better description.

The best thing is to just do what you're comfortable with. I also chose days where I knew I wouldn't be walking around much, so I could put myself on pelvic rest.

Ask your doctor. My doctor has us on strict I obstaining right now due to a very small SCH near my cervix which is crazy because I actually really want to have that even moreso due to these crazy hormones. Oh well....

We abstained at first just because we were nervous and then my MS was so terrible I just couldn't. Do (or don't do) whatever feels right to you!

We've never abstained but when I was in 1st tri with DD, having sex would give me painful cramps. There's something in the semen that causes uterine contractions - that's why you've heard of the old wives tale of having sex when you want to go into labor. So we used condoms in the first tri and didn't have any problems after that. And no, having sex didn't help me go into labor - DD was 5 days late.

My dr had me abstain for first 3 months...maybe talk to yours or what you feel comfortable with.

I too am a little nervous. My first pregnancy would have ended no matter what, but I did start bleeding after sex, which makes me a little apprehensive. The condom thing might be worth a shot, but I think asking a doctor first would be a great idea. I think I'll wait until I speak to mine.

I had some spotting on first tri so we pretty much abstained the whole time. Part of it was doctor ordered, the other part was just my own nervousness. We didn't start doing the deed again until I was in second trimester, I think around 16 weeks or so.

Just do whatever feels most comfortable to you!

DH and I have only had sex once since my BFP this time and it was super gentle. Last time we had a lot of sex and even though I know having sex had nothing to do with my mc I just can't help but feel uncomfortable with it. It helps that I have zero sex drive at the moment anyway. I think DH is just as nervous as I am so he hasn't really even broached the subject. I'm sure we'll get back into our groove as time passes. You just do what you're comfortable with.

This is my fourth time around and I have ALWAYS felt that way. The exact same thing happened to me. Though sex is rather less frequent than normal, we make sure it's more gentle and before I take any medications. I know it's challenging, but try not to dwell on it.
