I was right -- W is sick :(

So, we have a fever here. 101.6. She will not sleep anywhere but on me, but she's crying in her sleep which makes it impossible for me to even doze. If I move from the glider and try to lie down she wakes up for real and screams.

God dammit Mr Pup for being out of town. I am so irrationally angry I could cry. I don't really know what else to do besides motrin, but I can't even tell if it's working. I don't go to the ER for this, right? I kind of want to so I don't feel so damn alone, but I don't know what they'd do except tell me to give her tylenol and motrin.

She's inconsolable right now and I'm panicking.

I'm so sorry that she is not feeling well, and especially when you are on your own. I would probably call the after hours line for the pedi. They might give you something different to try and tell you what to look for, and their advice might help you feel more confident yourself. Huge hugs! I hope she feels better soon and you can both get some rest tonight!

My LO had a temperature last Saturday night (101.4 I think) and I was super panicked. I called my pedi and the on call doctor said just give him Tylenol. I ended up there two days later for his 6month check up and It turned out he had an ear infection. I was still kinda nervous after talking to the on call doctor because I couldn't tell if the Tylenol was working or not but I did feel more relaxed so I would suggest giving them a call for your piece of mind. Keep us updated I know it's scary

Oh man I'm so sorry you are dealing with this! Poor W!!

You got this! I second what others are saying, call the after hours line...if anything it will put your mind at ease and help you not be panicked while going through this.

Lots of prayers that she feels well enough to go to sleep soon for real and you can get some sleep!

Morning everyone. Thank you for your replies. Last night was a doozy. She felt like she was burning up and Motrin did nothing. She was basically inconsolable when she was awake, but she did eventually pass out (probably from pure exhaustion.) When she would wake up, she woke up crying.

I gave her Tylenol around 4am, and wouldn't you know it, she is acting completely and totally normal this morning. No fever, no hint of a fever...it's so weird. I don't know if this is just the tylenol kicking in, or if it actually broke?

If the fever comes back I will calling the nurses line for me pedi.

I am so tired. @sakura0019 -- I am kind of proud of my mom instincts. I KNEW something wasn't right yesterday! Not that that makes this any better, but it's kind of nice to know my gut was on.

Glad she is feeling better. This actually happened to a friend of mine a few weeks ago. Her son (same age) had a 102.something fever one night and then was totally fine the next day.

@djtippietoes - That would be AWESOME. This is so surreal -- the baby I'm staring at right now is a completely different baby than I dealt with last night. She's playing, talking, crawling everywhere. No sign at all of the disaster that was last night. Like it's to the point where I'm wondering if I hallucinated the whole thing.

It's either the tylenol working (which would be weird, considering medicine did nothing last night it seems) or she's completely shaken whatever was going on.

Babies/kids are weird. Sometimes one of my kids will have a pretty good fever (101) and be acting like a sweet, happy, fun kid. Sometimes they're laid out on the couch miserable but their fever is only 99. I've had a sad, barfing kid for at 8am turn into a bouncing happy one two hours later

Oh, Codypup, I'm so sorry you're having a rough time and W isn't (wasn't?) feeling well. You're doing a fantastic job, and you got this. Is there some one you can call today to give you a little break as long as W is feeling okay?

Good news and bad news. Good news is I have awesome employees who all rearranged their schedules to cover for me tomorrow. I won't have to go in at ALL.

Bad news is that W is still not herself. Fever was low grade, but seemingly climbing, so I gave her more tylenol. Then I drove around for an hour in a desperate attempt to get her to nap. (She did!)

Now we are home again, and she's mellow but not screaming. I am exhausted. I want to nap but she won't, so I am making another pot of coffee and pushing forward.

Thanks for all the happy thoughts guys. I might have lost my damn mind if I didn't have you guys to talk to.

I'm glad your employees are being helpful. I'm sorry W is still sick! I hope she gets well soon so you can catch a break. It's rough when they're sick and you have help. It's absolute misery when you're by yourself.

This is my first time reading this thread so at first I was like "aww I hope W falls asleep soon and feels much better when she wakes up". Then I read more and was all like, "woo hoo no more fever!". Now I'm caught up so I hope poor W gets over this quick so she can go back to her regular smiling and cute as heck self! Make sure you try to rest when you can so you can take care of yourself too! Sorry you are going through this solo @Codypup‌ but you totally got this mama! Your instincts prove you are doing a fab job!

Thanks guys! She's being a crazy clingy fuss bucket, but she's fever free. I'd say teething, but I see no sign of teeth, so probably JBBB.

We slept for NINE HOURS last night. She woke up a bunch but since I had her in the bed with me, I just cuddled her and gave her her bottles and we slept.

I feel totally recharged today. Talk to me later, but so far so good. ;-)
