Just found out I have Hep C

So I got a positive Hep C result from my blood work and I'm terrified. I'm just wondering from mom's who've delivered with Hep C, what is the process like in the delivery room, and is it likely my baby will contract it from me? I've Googled and Googled to find slim to no chance of baby contracting, but would appreciate experienced responses. Thank you

A family member had Hep-C for years and didn't know it. He had 4 children (one being my ex), when he was diagnosed I had just had my 2nd daughter. We all had to get tested and it was very nerve racking. None of us tested positive, even his own wife. From what the doctors explained to us it is very hard to contract Hep-C from intercourse, saliva etc. blood to blood has to be very direct contact like via a transfusion.
I say talk to your doctor about any potential risk to your baby. And most importantly talk to your doctor to come up with a plan to keep yourself healthy!!

My father had Hep C for Years and he just got through taking a new prescription drug that cured him completely. I know that's not answering your question or an option until you have the baby BUT there are options to get rid of it at some point.

I'm sorry that you have it, but these are definitely questions for your doctor.

I hope your doctor gives you answers, Amber, good luck. I highly advise you staying away from the Google/webMD on health issues, especially while pregnant . It's probably only going to make you worry more.

Keep a list of questions handy and bring it to your doctor appointments with you. If your doctor doesn't answer them or doesn't have the time to spend with you to answer your medical questions, get a new doctor.

We are happy to answer questions, share our experiences and offer advice but for serious medical issues, asking your doctor who knows your medical history and your specific health is best.

I was unexpectedly diagnosed shortly before ttc our second. Were now pregnant with our third. The risk of passing to baby during delivery are very tiny and it is also safe to breastfeed. I haven't sought treatment yet (with my doctors okay) as there are new drugs being tested that are supposed to be much easier on your body and a higher success rate. I know it's scary but this is not something to freak over. You can get through this!!
