talk to me about travel trailers...

So this camping has gotten me thinking again...we've always had boats
H loves being on the water. He has been talking about selling our boat this winter though because it's older, and getting something a little smaller and newer, but I'm just dreading the cost. Boats are so fucking expensive. ANYWAY, a few years ago I thought about getting a travel trailer (one we can tow with our SUV, nothing huge but...comfortable. Now that he's talking of selling the boat, I may bring it up again as an alternative - go camping and fish while there...yadda yadda.

So does anyone have one?? I'm sure we would be looking at used ones so what should I be looking for? Any makes or models to avoid? Any must have features?

I want to have all my talking points before presenting to DH :P

    We have one, but I don't know that you want to go our route - DH bought a motorcycle trailer and outfitted it as a camper.  He did all the work himself, installed a folding bed, counters, cabinets, electric, etc.  We did it that way because of the cost.  It was just orders of magnitude cheaper.

    https://www.thegreatoutdoorsrv.com/used-rvs/rockwood-roo-23ss this is similar to what we have but older. i found that it is rare for a trailer to have 2 beds w/o bunks but ours does. my girls are young but enjoy sleeping together on camping trips. 2 get the full size bed & 1 gets the couch. there is also a queen for us. we have a stove, toaster oven, microwave & bathroom but still feel like camping.

    We have a 5th wheel and live in it for weeks-months at a time as we travel for work. If we were to use it just for a few weeks or weekends a year, I would look for things like the size of the fridge, oven, microwave. A convection oven/micro can come in handy too. Outdoor kitchen can come in handy, esp if it has a small fridge as part of the outdoor kitchen. The ability to carry bicycles on the back if you would bring those. Can the heat run on electric instead of just propane? Corner showers can be a tight fit, if you bathe your kids with you then I would check out the fit on that. Storage is always an issue, keep in mind how much you would bring for a camping trip from food to games to cooking needs.

    It's a moot point anyway now; brought it up, H says, 'but then you can't tow a boat if you're towing a trailer'.

    Unless you get the van front RV! Then you can tow a boat! I think since states may have length maximums. But it's doable!

    @QueSyrah‌ my hope was to JUST tow the trailer. ;) The campground we usually go to is on the beach so there's always beach/pier fishing and boat rentals!!!! Ugh DH.
