I'm in the process of setting up DB's nursery. There is new-ish (~2 years old) cream colored carpet in a seldom used room. My friend said we should consider swapping this out for hardwood in anticipation of baby poo/pee/spills. WWYD?
Our whole house is hard wood aside from an area rug in the living room and a rug in DS' room. I can say we've never had a problem with pee or poop on the floor in his room but it makes spills much easier in all of the other rooms. Personally I'd leave the carpet unless you plan on your LO often being without a diaper in their room.

We have hardwood, but are getting a carpet remnant for the nursery. Like others say, I like a soft area to play and be safe. We're getting a dark color to help camoflauge stains.
We just ripped up some old, nasty carpet for the baby's room and are going to just get a big rug to go in there. If the carpet had been nice though probably would have left it. I don't think it matters much either way to be honest!
We have hardwood throughout and rugs in rooms. My opinion would be to keep the carpet and then change it out to hardwood when LO gets a little bigger and past the sitting up and learning to walk stage.

I guess I will keep the carpet and swap it out when DS gets older.
