3 Positives, First timer...

Today was supposed to be my period, but I knew this last week something was up....I cried at our back to school convocation (I'm a teacher) like 4 times.  Then yesterday morning I got queasy and puked for no reason.  So I took a test when I got home and it was a clear positive, but (TMI) I thought I may have screwed it up by not having a very reliable urine stream (it went all over the stick, even on the window...haha) so I read a little more and it said something about morning urine so I decided to try this morning. (my husband was more anxious than me)  Well, the second test in that pack was defective (the regular line didnt even show up) so he sent me to the store immediately.  (lol) got a different brand, just to see and I took both of them a few hours a part and they both were very clearly positive! Since I don't go to the doctor until later on, I don't feel like I can "say" I'm pregnant (not publicly, just in general).  Is it safe to call myself pregnant?  I am very nervous about going to the bathroom and seeing something I don't want to, but reading up on it apparently there are really no false positives out there....especially 3...hehehe....so anyways, here I am, 4 weeks.  So glad to have this forum because I am a TALKER and its going to KILL me not to tell my best friend and mom for a few more weeks!  LOL  I want to wait a little bit until I'm 100% sure since its my first one.  I'm 29, will be 30 in march, so you never know what could happen.  I'm trying to be practical and not get too excited yet.    .....oh yeah, I'm a rambler....lol

  • two lines = pregnant.

For a lot of women, it does not become real till that first appointment or until the first time you hear a heartbeat. GL and welcome.

  • Unfortunately my district doesn't do paid maternity leave. Tragic I know! Lol but it's okay. I'm just hoping my disability I applied for will work when the time comes. If not oh well I'll deal. I teach junior high theatre in Texas. Still doesn't feel real....expecting to go to the bathroom and find my period any minute (lol)

  • I'm a middle school teacher! I have heard this incoming class of 8th graders is TERRIBLE, so I'm really excited to have a shorter school year.

Welcome @Carlton2013 !! I don't feel "pregnant" yet either, but my multiple positive tests tell me otherwise. Congrats!
  • Thanks! The only real symptom is napping (which I NEVER do) and strange cramping twinges...but I looked it up and it's normal. Lol
My spring semester is usually incredibly busy, as I work with the high school during that time too...I'm gonna be huge and exhausted!!! Guess it's for a good cause lol

  • Congratulations!

I took my first test last night (I've been suspicious for a while) and didn't believe the positive until I took the second one this morning. Looks like May 2015 it is! This is my first too and I am so excited but also freaking out because I didn't expect it to happen this soon.

    Anniversary

  • With my first, it did not feel entirely real until the first appointment where we had a sonogram (not all will get a sono at the first appt, so don't go in expecting it). But, we'd also tried for 2.5 years, so seeing that second line was surreal at best.

If you start having symptoms, mostly morning sickness, that will be almost a comfort because sick = hormones going crazy = baby growing.

I found out on Friday/Saturday (I didn't believe the blue dye tests I stupidly bought Friday night, so I tested again with better tests) that I am pregnant with #2. We are not as "hyper" to tell this time around, but I feel more settled this time than last.

Just try to relax and remember that not seeing the doctor isn't going to change you being pregnant. Most doctors do not do a blood test to confirm pregnancy, just another pee test, like you've already taken. And since you might not have an u/s at your first appointment and it is usually too early to hear a heartbeat, things may not feel so different after.

With DS, I had this irrational fear that I would go to my first appointment and the doctor would be like, "why did you think you were pregnant again?" It got better after I peed on multiple tests, but still didn't feel "real" until that first appointment, like others have said. I guess that improves the second time, because I have one test left and do not feel compelled to pee on it. :)
Lolz.  You could send that puppy my way.  I still have the urge to make sure!!

  • That's EXACTLY what it is! I feel like I've looked online at symptoms and stuff and I just THINK I may "have pregnancy" lmao.....like I'm going to show up at the dr and she is going to say "you're fine, just take some Advil" hahaha....it's just such a weird thing, especially since it's such a "secret" right now too. Ahhhhh so weird, exciting, scary, fun, different!

I'm a first timer as well and also share the obsession of taking WAY too many tests! I don't go in for my 1st appointment until Sept.16th and am going crazy over here overanalyzing everything!!!!

  • Congrats! I agree with others. It is the first appt when things really sink in and you either hear the heartbeat and or see the first image.

  • Where do you live that you get paid maternity leave?? I also tried to plan baby #2 around the school summer break. I guess it makes a lot of sense that others on here would do the same :)
  • I said I DONT get paid maternity leave. I work in Conroe tx. I put in for disability this year and I have no idea if it's even going to work now since technically I got pregnant before the new insurance kicks in. I also had to get a new doctor because we got new BS insurance. I hate this crap....

  • We started trying last month thinking it would take a few months (and I'm completely grateful) but I guess it's true it only takes once! Lol but I'm afraid it's going to screw us with getting any pay when I'm off

  • Congrats and welcome! I didn't trust my tests until I took a digital and saw it spelled out that I was pregnant. Also, I am a middle school teacher too. I teach 6th and 7th grade reading.
