Soap Nuts OK for prep?

I'm ready to start prepping my flats but I realized I only have liquid Tide Free and Gentle and liquid Original Tide. My other option is a box of soap nuts I picked up at Marshals on an impulse last week (picture below for reference). Are these OK to use for prepping unbleached cotton OsoCozy flats? I totally don't want to go to the store to buy detergent today.

In a related question, on a scale of lame to awesome, where does being totally excited to spend my Friday night prepping diapers fall?

Soap nuts should be fine. You only really need detergent the first wash. After that just water is fine.

Yeah they're fine. I used them for my diaper laundry for awhile.

Thanks! I was just concerned they wouldn't be "soapy" enough for prep. I ended up at Marshalls (again) last night and found a tin of Nellie's for $12 so I'm using that for prep today.

Yep, I use those on my flats all the time now. In a machine with great agitation they are working as good as regular detergent.......but they don't work so well on microfiber/microsuede/microfeece so I've been tossing up different solutions for cleaning my pockets.
