3rd tri sickness

I'm 28 weeks and the past 2 weeks have been sick when I eat sugary or fried foods.  Anyone else getting like this at all?  I've stopped eating those foods, but I feel like my stomach is getting more and more sensitive.  I'm vomiting at least once a day.  I've already been to the ER once for dehydration and they couldn't figure out what's going on.  Anyone else experiencing this?  Wondering if it's pregnancy related or not???

If you are concerned then I recommend asking your OB.

However, it can be very normal for women to have nausea or m/s throughout their entire pregnancy, or for 1s tri symptoms (m/s, constipation/diarrhea, heartburn, fatigue etc) to reappear in 3rd tri.

Also, as the baby (and your uterus) gets bigger your organs will move up more, pushing on your stomach. This can make you more nauseous or unable to eat as much at a meal.

*edit because I said first twice, wtf?

  • Ugh I'm so sick of throwing up. Threw up every other day my whole second trimester. Dr said its normal, some women are just lucky and are sick until they deliver. My sister threw up throughout her 3rd trimester. Could be reflux too? If I eat greasy foods I get reflux that triggers the nausea so you could try avoiding those foods or take tums/zantac see if it helps. Sadly I get nauseous even after an apple so could be just normal/crappy prego symptom.
  • No throwing up *knock wood* but I have definitely noticed I can't eat much in a sitting and I feel sick if I overdo it.  Also getting heartburny sensations now when I eat something spicy.  Which is sad since football is starting.

Oh sweet Lord, make it stop!!!!

As for eating, I can eat about 3 bites and I'm wishing for death. Misery I say....MISERY!

  • I've noticed kind of a sick/nauseous feeling too ... and I MAJORLY regret it if I overeat. Also fatigue is back in full force. have my GD test today so we'll see if that may be contributing to it ... No throwing up though w/ this LO!

  • I literally hit the 3rd trimester today.  All throughout my pregnancy, my body has been very punctual about it's symptoms.  Today I had a bowl of cereal and am nauseous already :-( Glad to see I am not the only one!
  • I'm not getting nauseous or heartburn at all, more of a jabbing pain.  Any time I eat or drink I can feel every bit of it going down and then I get a sharp pain right under my boobs.  It almost feels like my stomach is sitting between my lungs and my lungs are squeezing it.  It's just physically uncomfortable to eat at this point.  Smoothies and shakes and protein drinks just are not cutting it :( I want to eat a meal sooooo badly!

  • I've been barfy since like, the second i saw the positive on the test until now and the ob i saw yesterday denied me a refill of my nausea drugs.

    GIVE ME MY DRUGS.

I throw up every morning since about 7 weeks minus a day or too when the weekend comes around. Now I feel like the baby is picking and choosing what stays down - Peach salsa = good, Raw Broccoli= Not while i'm in here. Hostess ding dongs= more please. He really disliked raw carrots, it came up so fast and violently I was sneezing them out for the rest of the night.

Foreshadowing to him not eating his vegetables?

  • Have you had your gall bladder looked at? I have been very sick this pregnancy, all the way through, with the same dull pain under my ribs and then a stabbing pain sometimes. It turns out, I have major gall stones. Gall bladder attacks are quite common in pregnancy, so I've learned. Fatty/sugary foods make it worse. My advice - bring it up with doc ASAP and see if they will give you an abdominal ultrasound to look at your gall bladder. It has been my saving grace. I am still sick, but know what to stay away from now and at least I know WHY I am sick.
  • I JUST experienced nausea this past weekend. Not quite throwing up but nausea. Which is just awful because I feel like if I could just throw up I *might* feel better.

I knew I was really ill when I proclaimed to my DH with all sincerity that saltines are delicious and I don't know why more people don't treat them like the delicacy that they clearly are. Also ginger ale is my drug of choice.

Also if you're throwing up a lot, apparently that can offset potassium levels. I just spent a good five hours in the ER (my special brand of hell) because of a really bad asthma attack, and my potassium was super low. When i told the doctor about my barfing, he said that morning sickness was definitely the culprit, so all the bananas!

ETA: my nausea drugs were recently taken away (-_-) and if you guys haven't been prescribed zofran/ondansetron and can stomach ginger, try seagate's mama ginger lozenges with folic acid! They're like 8.99 at cvs for a package and they actually work for about four hours at a time (i generally need 4-5 a day if i'm up early). So good solution! :)

  • So stm's please answer this.... Do all of these symptoms just disappear the moment you deliver? Or when can we count on them being gone? I too have been horribly sick and was counting down to delivery for that reason . But will it go away right away? Or take time? I might just be one helluva b*tch at thanksgiving if I cant eat normally :)
  • OMG I love the sound of that. I looooove food. Im so sad that its making me so sick.
  • Is there an "all of the above" box I can check? I eat a few bites, want to throw up, end up having major direah (like peeing out my butt, sorry TMI I know) rest for a bit then hungry. And start the cycle all over again. I'm physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually exhausted. All the time!!!!! I do recognize that a lot of it is because I'm not sleeping. I just can't get comfortable. It's harder to roll over, breath, sit or stand for any length of time.

That's Enough, I am truly grateful to be pregnant! Few more weeks and it will be worth it!
