Who is going with a midwife and why? Or, who considered it and chose not to?
We are having a midwife birth! My last birth was with doctors, unmedicated, and surprisingly manageable. This time we live close to a midwife center that is located adjacent to a hospital. Couldn't ask for a better situation!

Re: Who is going with a midwife?
@mrsstubbs87 I second the doula recommendation. A friend of mine was considered high-risk, so she hired a doula and she said the doula helped her have a positive experience overall.
I'm really interested in a midwife, I would love to have a water birth. One of my good friends had a great experience. My obgyn works closely with them but I still am debating since I would lose my OB and I really like her.

Yup. DS is Tommy Pickles! Nothing like living with an escape artist.
Just another cloth diapering, baby wearing mama.

Anyone have any natural birthing book suggestions? I bought Ina May's and Bradley Method. I started reading Ina May and it is fabtastic.
Those are both great books! I don't have any other specific recommendations but read as many birth stories as you can, especially positive ones. So much of a good labor is based on what's going on in your head. If you think you can do it, you can!

Ultimately, it's your choice (and hubby's if he's in the picture)! No one else can go through labor for you and it's your choice what way is best for you. No one will love baby as much as you either. Read up, make an informed decision, and don't let naysayers upset you whatever you choose! Hugs!
Second, I don't think it really matters what number child this is for you. Even though you haven't experienced childbirth yet, a first time mom can still be more informed on interventions than a veteran mom. Being informed on the labor & delivery process (doing research, taking a birthing class, etc) will help you immensely. Not to mention, your midwife will help & guide you through the whole thing. It might be scary at times but I think most first labors can be scary no matter where you deliver. If you already hate hospitals, trying to have a baby in one might add unnecessary extra stress and anxiety.
In short - you & your hubs should do some research and stand strong in whatever choice you make. It's your pregnancy and your baby!
