Toddlers DO NOT LIKE MOVING!

Moving day is fast approaching so I have everything we don't actually need packed for the most part and DD is not happy about it. She is not sleeping well. She is even more clingy than usual and she cries everytime Daddy leaves for work. Poor thing is very confused. If anyone has any tips for helping her through this they would be appreciated.

Today is DH's last day at work though so that will make things easier. At least now one of us can play with her while one of us packs and cleans. However, tonight the people who bought our couch are coming to get it which means her favourite nursing spot is about to disappear too. I don't think that is going to go over well.

Only 4 more days until moving day! I can't wait until we are all settled in our new apartment and we can get back to normal!

  • Awww. Poor thing :-(. Hopefully she will quickly settle in to the new place.

  • Awwwww, poor sweetie. I don't have any tips, sorry. I always fear the worst for when we have to move (eventually).

I would just give her the attention she is craving right now and maybe a few extra cuddles. Makes sure that you and/or your husband say bye to her when you leave and assure her that you will be back. It must be really confusing for a toddler so just be as patient as you can with her.

I hope she loves her new place and adjusts well!

  • Thanks ladies! She does good when both of us are home during the day. We bed share so she gets all kinds of love and cuddles at night. Right now she is jumping around happy as can be :) Surprisingly, she wasn't the least bit fazed by the couch being gone but I took her with me to pick up dinner while it was being picked up so she didn't actually see it leave. The only time I start to lose patience is at 3am but I'm trying.
  • Having Daddy home is making a HUGE difference. Much less clingy to me and I am getting a ton done :)
  • Oh boy, that must be very stressful (as if moving in and of itself isn't rough enough). Sending you good vibes.

  • Less than 48 hours to go :)

One more problem you ladies might be able to help with...

We have a five hour car ride to get to our new home and Em hates the car. She always has. If we have to drive more than 30 minutes she screams and cries unless she can watch a show on the iPad. She gets car sick but just spits out Gravol.

Does anyone have suggestions on things to keep her busy in the car for that long? Books don't work because it makes her feel worse from looking down? Or should I just put as many videos on the iPad as I can and let her watch shows the whole way? The reason the videos work is I hang the iPad off the seat in front of her so she's not looking down.

    Any ideas?
