AW: guinea pig and a laugh

My mom let me know that they had to bury Sugar Muffin, my little sister's guinea pig. I was telling DH and he asked who Sugar Muffin was (I guess she doesn't come up in conversation much). I explained that it's a guinea pig. He asked what happened to Chewy, her last guinea pig. When I explained that Chewy passed away, he said that maybe my little sister shouldn't have any more rodents.

Being the good sister that I am, I got defensive of my sisters rodent rearing skills. To which my darling DH said:
"Yeah, she's good with rodents just like Hitler was good with people."

I nearly lost my mind laughing.

Re: AW: guinea pig and a laugh

  • She's 9; she got Chewy when she was 8 and it passed away a year later (they suspected one of the neighbor toddlers fed it a toy when he came over)

Sugar muffin she has had ever since, so two and a half years. I'm not sure what happened. I didn't feel it very prudent to ask but I'm going to call mama later and find out all the details.

  • Apparently the neighbor kids who come over loved chewy. The littlest was about 3 and my little sister stopped him from 'feeding' chewy a few barbies and Lincoln logs. He would sneak over and 'play' with poor chewy and when they went home to visit family they asked the little boys mom to babysit. Poor, poor Chewy!

I'm asking mom to be sure but I think Sugar Muffin was an adoption from another military family being restation end, so Sugar Muffin was probably older than 2...hopefully!
