Anyone else use the Clear Blue Easy Preg test( with weeks estimator)?

I am starting to lose it because I am at 5 weeks 2 days ( I know my ovulation date) and the test is still showing 2-3 weeks pregnant. It should be showing 3+ weeks by now.

I am such a facts and figures kind of person and this is really worrying me.

Anyone else experience this?

TIA

  • I took one twice the first said 1-2 then a week later said 2-3.
  • Loading the player...
  • Mine shows 2-3 weeks, but in guessing that I am actually somewhere around 5 weeks based on my last period date

  • I did and told my Dr the dates it gave me but he said they are totally inaccurate because so many things can effect the level of hormone in your urine at any given time.

  • I wouldn't worry. 2-3 (which is 4-5 weeks) is close enough to 5w2d. It goes by hormone levels. Also the 2-3 week reading is significantly less accurate. I have a link saved on my computer if you would like it as reassurance.

  • You could have implanted late. Also the tests uses beta numbers to get your weeks estimate which isn't entirely accurate.

Congrats to my GP Sister from another mister Bruinsbabe!!

  • I had a panic attack after I used one and the weeks went down from 3+ to 2-3. I called my dr and 1. she yelled at me for taking so many tests 2. she said those tests are total "garbage" and should not waste my money

I agree with your doctor. I can't imagine how those tests would be all that accurate.

  • I've been using those too and all they do is add unnecessary stress.  Try not to worry as they have a very wide range of levels of HCG for each category and they are not always accurate.

  • I wouldn't worry.  When it says 2-3 weeks, I think it means that you are 2-3 weeks after conception.  So, even if we assumed you O'd at day 14 of your cycle (and not everyone does) then you would still only be 3 weeks 2 days after conception so you would be 2-3 weeks pregnant. Further, it is only a rough estimate so could be off by a couple of days easily.

Plus, are you certain of your O date?  You could have O'd a couple of days later and/or had a late implanter.  Truly, I would not worry. :)

  • I used one.  It was pretty accurate for me.  I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I agree that it is ridiculous that they don't just say how many weeks any pregnancy calculator and/or your doctor will give you.  It just makes it more confusing for people.

  • Like someone posted before, the weeks number is how many weeks since you ovulated.  So, 5 weeks since LMP would be equivalent to 2-3 weeks.

I used the test because my first beta at 5 weeks since LMP came back extremely low (75).  I was so upset, I changed my due date ticker by a week. The day I got results, I used the test and it came back as 1-2 weeks, which would be 3-4 since LMP.  I took the test this morning (2 days later) and it came back as 2-3 weeks, which is more in line with what I expect.  I'm still waiting for lab results for the 2nd beta, so we'll see how it goes.

I don't know when I ovulated because I decided to take a break from TTC this month, and didn't chart or use OPK.  However, I got BFN's until 2 days after AF was due, and even then it was faint.  My thinking is that I may have ovulated extremely late.

Blood betas are most reliable, but if you can't wait, I would suggest taking another CBE Weeks Estimator to see if the number changes.

  • It stands to reason if there is a huge range of HCG levels that is normal from week to week, that these tests cannot be accurate for everyone.  Stop wasting your money and stop torturing yourself.  If you know when you ovulated, you know how far along you are.  Everything else will be confirmed soon enough.

  • At 6 weeks I took one at night and it said 2-3 weeks. I was worried but retook one with the first morning urine. Now it said 3+ weeks which is what I was expecting from the beginning. In the back of my mind I al still concerned and I wish I had never even tested with these. I needed a reassurance and ended up being more concerned!
  • Don't stress yourself out with them both times i used them they have been completely inaccurate. I think that everyone has a great range of normal values and while that test may be designed to work for most, that also means there can be quite a few that it really doesn't work for.

Not everyone has a 28-day cycle.  While the cycle may end exactly 14 days after ovulation, ovulation is not always exactly day 14 of the cycle.  Therefore, counting weeks since ovulation allows the test to be more consistent.  If you have a 28-day cycle, then you should add 2 weeks.  If you have a shorter or longer cycle, then you have to adjust accordingly.

IMHO, because of the variation in women's cycles, counting DPO is more accurate than LMP, and would save a lot of women a great deal of stress when their numbers aren't "normal".

  • I am currently freaking out because i have taken now 5 pregnancy test. they have all come out positive including the one from the doctor. All positive, had an ultra sound done but they said i wasn't far enough along for it to tell me if i was or not. So they told me to take the clear blue weeks estimator test and it should up 2-3 weeks, just took it again today which is a week from when i took the first one and it says 1-2 weeks. I dont even feel pregnant anymore. i have been spotting with brown mucus. Should i just face the fact that i might of had a miscarriage or what do i do?
  • Me. Exactly what you are saying with my DS2, I got 2-3 weeks at 4 weeks and some change, and again at almost 6 weeks. I was super worried, I had a good ugly cry and was positive something was wrong with my pregnancy- but if you look up the stats on them, at 5 weeks, the accuracy of the weeks estimator is only about 75% It goes based on your hormones, as others have said.
