First, Hi! I'm usually just a lurker.. but have been posting since having abdominal pain since Sunday.
I went in to see OB Monday afternoon and they ordered me a abdominal u/s to see if I had gallstones or something going on with my gallbladder. Got a call that gallbladder was clear but had a 6mm kidney stone. Was told by doc on call to take Tylenol and I basically had to say that ain't gonna cut it. My OB called me later to tell me to go to labor & delivery to get on some pain meds/pumped with fluids and ordered a consult with a urologist.
The Urologist came in the next AM to basically verify that while the u/s showed 6mm, CT scan is most effective for reading and we can't do that while preg. My pain had subsided so I stopped taking pain meds and was about to leave the hospital with basically the idea that we would manage the pain if it came back and go from there. No need to do any emergency surgeries or anyting ( best possible outcome- yay!) Well they decided to hook me up to the monitor one last time to make sure all was OK ( they were giving me breaks of having hte band on since baby was fine) and BOOM I was having contractions. I about cried because all I wanted was out of there.
The doc on call ordered me a shot of terbutaline, had me back on the monitor for 20 mins to confirm baby OK and contractions stopped and then I was sent home Wednesday night. Discharge orders said to follow up with office in a week- no restrictions to activity, just come to L&D if contractions come back. I never once felt a contraction while I was there, however now I've started cramping up and driving myself crazy. Just trying to keep hydrated with H20 as much as possible.
I had this shot at 28 weeks with my twins and delivered at 35 but curious if anyone else has had the shots and then ended up feeling contractions ( that didn't lead to labor) afterward?
Re: Terbutaline to stop contractions at 24 weeks
I didn't feel the contractions in the hospital but a I chalked that up to being in so much pain. Once I was home I did feel BH contractions and was just told to time and count them.
FX your LO stays put for a while longer!!

Our #2 is on the way!
don't seem too worried and discharged you. However, I would stay on top of them about monitoring you. Sending prayers the contractions stop.
Good luck!
