On our way to a wedding. I have a pink dress, white shoes, and a black accent belt. Should I bring a white cardigan or a denim jacket? It's an outdoor wedding and reception on the coast.

I don't think denim is appropriate for a wedding no matter how casual so i voted for cardigan

Sigh... I knew this was the right answer.... It just isn't as cute. Oh well.

Okay I'm the least formal person in the world.  And I hate weddings.  But I demand the 6 of you who think a denim jacket is appropriate wedding attire to show yourselves.

I mean, I got married in a t-shirt but I assume if you invite guests, it's an actual occasion.

Well, there was a grown ass man with a baseball hat and another one in shorts but I still just used the cardigan.

  • I voted denim as I have been taught not to wear white to another person's wedding.
    Me - J.R. - 05/1986
    DH - J.I. - 08/1986
    Married - 09/22/2006
    DD#1 - A.E. - 12/15/2009
    DD#2 - N.R. - 11/07/2011
    DD#3 - S.R. - 05/20/2013
      DS - R.E. - 10/03/2014

Absolutely in love with our 'big' family!

I'm also a proud Auntie to a crazy little girl, her brand new baby sister, a little man on his way in the next month, and a sweet little mister we will miss forever!!!

    I didn't
I always thought that meant the whole dress...like a white sweater should be fine. I've definitely worn white sweaters to weddings....

That's what I thought too. The wedding started at 5 and I didn't even wear it until 730ish. The denim probably would have been fine but I went with the cardigan to be safe.

The last wedding we were at had some hoochie in a butt length white dress with red hooker heels. Not only did I see her ass, I'm pretty sure I saw some lip. The real question, why WHITE??

There was a grl last night wearing a dress that had two layers. The first was barely past her crotch and then it had a sheen mullet dress on top. I told dh she forgot her leggings.

  • In 2006 before MIL was MIL and she was just my boyfriend's mom who lives across the country and sucked, I attended the wedding of his brother (now BIL) and wife (now SIL). SIL was ahead of the curve and pulled a Kate Middleton and had the moms wear white. Only I didn't know that. When my boyfriend's mom climbed out of the car in floor length white with a lace top, I almost died in the church parking lot.

DH's grandmother couldn't fathom that I wasn't wearing a tiara with my veil. She tried to talk me into it for weeks. So, she wore a tiara to my wedding! At least her dress was teal.

My hometown is notorious for jeans a weddings, shorts and baseball caps, etc. I attended a wedding there this summer and some of the older women were in knit capri and tunic outfits that looked like ugly casual office wear.

My MIL showed at MY wedding in a white dress and it was not planned.

Yeah, we were at a wedding and there were 2 hoochie's in dresses like these (though not white),  DH ran off to sit with one of them and wondered why I was upset.  He worked with her, but didn't invite me to come with him.....
  • Nobody wore white to my wedding, including me.
