Chunky spit up solutions

Yup! You got it right, that's what we've got going on over here. My diet is the same besides a flavored coffee- decaf as she gets no sleep when I have caffeine. Quitting the coffee tom to see if it's that. Super thick spit up and seems to cry more afterwards. Also just 16 weeks wondering if this is a phase as her naps have seemingly stopped being over 20 minutes. Did I mention my husband is away for three days?

Sleeps thru the night still and had been EBF

Re: Chunky spit up solutions

  • we started having chunky spit up a few weeks ago too, seemingly out of the blue!  i had been very pleased that she seemed to be a not-too-spitty baby overall, but that all changed.  she never seems bothered by it, and it usually happens fairly soon after eating, but not always.  i have no clue what to do about it other than to keep a bib on her constantly.  my poor carpet has been taking a brutal hit lately, though... yuck.

  • Would it have anything to do with how much our babies are drooling now?  Maybe your LO is swallowing more saliva making the spit up look chunky because the milk isn't mixed with the saliva.  Does this make any sense?

  • @LoriMc12‌ maybe? She's in a bib since the beginning of the week. In and keep up with changing these outfits!

@MrsW26‌ our babies are the same. I can't even say I miss naps, because STTN. Is so glorious.

@MamaFantastic‌ yup, no real spit up before the last couple if weeks either. Now, major chunks! I feel bad for her, hope it doesn't hurt her, she seems uncomfortable though.
  • that's a good piece of knowledge, @celticlullaby !
  • Thanks @celticlullaby - that's good to know. My lil guy also started spitting up a lot, especially the chunky kind... At least 2x a day (significant amount) which is way more than his little spit ups prior.

  • We had about a week or so of bad spit ups, now he seems to have phased out of it. I started breaking his feedings down to a couple of ounces less and feeding him more often, also burping halfway again. That did really seem to help!
