Trying to Get Pregnant

Back in the game! Also, question :)

So today was finally CD1 for me after being benched last cycle because of a stupid work-required immunization. I can't wait until AF goes away so that FI and I can have all the sex!!

Question: I'm going to go tomorrow to get OPKs. Used them a bit in the past but never consistently. What kind do you recommend? I've heard great things about the clear blue digital ones but they're expensive. Worth it? Or is there another reliable brand that I can pick up (in store) that will be cheaper?

Wondfo. You can find them on Amazon. WAY cheaper.

Eta: not sure of any in store ones that are cheaper. I read too fast. My bad! Sorry!

  • I have been using the clearblue digis for the past 3 cycles now.. Def worth it in my opinion! No guessing game.. Either you get a smiley face or you don't!
  • If you go the clear blue route do not get the advanced. Not worth the headache. Don't get the Answer brand either. They rarely give positives. I know a lot of women on this board have trouble with them. I like the dollar store ones but they get expensive if you are doing them multiple times a day for a while.

  • I have had horrible luck with CB, and use cheapies from Amazon. I also test more than once a day.

  • I'm kind of late on this, but I can definitely say do not get the Target brand dip ones. I think they have some that work like the First Response ones, and I haven't tried those, but the Target brand ones that are just the strips that you dip in a cup are awful. Lots and lots of line eye.

::small voice:: I really like the CBE Advanced, but I recognize that I'm in the minority there.

  • I've been using the CBE for the past three cycles. I like them bc they're easy- either a smiley face or no smiley. And I like that you get a two day heads up before your "peak" days just so you can get busy earlier in the game ;) I also temp bc it is helpful

  • I'm a wondfo gal myself. I think I got
something like 75 OPKs and 25 hcg tests for $35. I test multiple times a day so I like to know it doesn't break the bank.

I like the idea of confirming the surge with a CBE, but I don't know if I can tolerate any more than what I already do to get pregnant!

I also like the Wondfos where you get OPKs and HPTs in one kit. Mine have lasted me a long time--five cycles.

  • Welcome and good luck! Definitely go for the Wondfos. I wasted so much money the first few months of TTC on those "high-tech" OPK tests.
