Hi Ladies. I'm so sorry that this update is so late (sorry KK
@74dragonfly)! To say time flies by is an understatement and with two now its been a blur.
Now for my story (I promise to try and keep it short)...
We made it to our repeat c section date on July 24th and arrived at the hospital around 9:30am. C section was scheduled for 11:30 and everything went very smoothly until after I got my spinal and it just wasn't working right at first. They kept giving me extra time for everything to go numb but finally told me if it didn't kick in soon they were going to have to knock me out for the procedure. At that point I started crying and freaked out a bit. I had played out all the scenarios I thought but that was not one I prepared myself for. Thank goodness I had the worlds best and kindest nurse anesthetist and she talked them into giving me five more minutes because it finally kicked in enough for them to proceed with me awake. I felt a lot more this time than with the first c section and was even more alert. I got to watch the whole thing in the reflection from the light overhead.
My doctor was super fast at this point and before I knew it he told DH to stand up and tell me if it was a boy or girl (we were team green). I think DH got a little choked up so at the same time the doctor and DH both said its a GIRL!!!
They let me give her a kiss and cleaned her up in no time it seemed. Then they handed her back to DH to hold next to me while they finished closing me up. DH was holding back tears (which I think I can count on less than one hand the number of times I've seen him cry) and asked me if we could change her middle name I thought we had decided and use his maternal grandmothers instead... Of course I said yes! Lol!
Once back in recovery they let both of our moms back and DH got to introduce beautiful Caroline Rita to them! Her name meant so much to my MIL and since my oldest DD has my moms middle name it ended up being perfect.
The nurse helped give her her first bath in recovery and before I knew it we were being moved up to our room. We ended up being in the hospital 4 days because Caroline had a pretty severe case of jaundice thanks to our blood types (I'm O+ and she's A+) and ended up needing to be under the lights for awhile but besides that she didn't have any issues. She was 7lbs 14.2oz and 21.25 inches long and perfect. We are all so in love and Abby can just not get enough of her. She only calls her sister Caroline. [:)]
The past two months have been extremely hard because of other family health issues and problems but I would not change a single thing. I feel so so blessed to have my two beautiful girls and am so happy that we didn't give up those many months ago and decided to try just one more round of IVF!
Thank you everyone for all of your support these many months and I can't wait to hear about all of your little blessings in the future.
