I have a stupid question...

Ok, so I always hear women say that once they reach their due date they have sex to try and jump start labour. My question is, if sex can trigger labour, is there a certain time/week we should stop having sex to avoid pre term labour?

FTM and was curious and keep forgetting to ask my OB! :)

Double check with our OB, but unless you've been put on pelvic rest there usually is no risk. Things like that, and other home induction methods, won't actually put you into labor unless your body and the baby are ready.

Thanks for the reply! That makes sense.
  • I thought that was a myth.

I am pretty much a virgin again,  and I am sure I will remain that way until 2 months after LO is born,  so I am not worrying about this  :)

    Ditto :P

  • Because I am having a lot of bh and the dr is talking about pulling me out of work and I am slightly dilated dh has decided we are done.  Unfortunately I have been hornier than usual.  The dr never said to stop.

  • FWIW I tried to have ALL the sex in attempts to help induce labor with both my boys and it did NOTHING!  I also tried lots of walking, super spicy foods, massaging the pressure point by your achilles tendon...basically anything I had ever heard of before my medical inductions :)
