Am I being lazy?

I'm 39 weeks today and I've done nothing to promote/induce labor. And I don't really have any intentions of starting. Am I being lazy? Should I be trying things if I don't want to be pregnant forever? I'm very active (vacuumed and mopped the house today, pulled weeds, etc) but that's all I've got going for me.

Edited to fix grammar (dang mobile)

  • I say enjoy your time before baby comes...your body will go into labor when it's ready.

  • Ok thanks ladies! I'm definitely getting to the excited, counting down the days stage and I want things to happen soon but I just don't think I believe there's anything (aside from the meds) that will truly speed things up. Glad to know I'm not the only one.

  • I'm the opposite. I've been drinking hot tea on the hottest days of the year, walking my ass off in crushing humidity, having sex like it's my honeymoon....and NOTHING. If I didn't feel the need to control everything, I'd totally sit back and relax. For me, the "induction activities" help me feel like I'm helping the process, even if I'm not.
  • I'm not doing diddly squat either to coax labor along either.

Primarily because I want to make it to my induction date (or, at least get me through next Wednesday [hooray for 8 hours of comp time I can use for my ML!]).

A few days ago I thought about -trying- to hit DH up for some fun times...but then was like "Uhm...nahhh...don't want to start the labor process."  People tell me to eat spicy foods; so I avoid them.  Go for a walk; no thanks!  Do not want labor to start!!

Some of it is that I'm not quite 40 weeks yet, so I really REALLY do want our LO to stay inside for as LONG as possible for her own benefit; but, yes, I really REALLY do want those 8 hours.

Plus, I have a Dr's appointment with an U/S scheduled the day before induction, and I kind of want to share one last U/S with DH and our LO while she's on the inside before we meet her.  I can't explain why I want to, I just know I do.

  • I'm not doing anything I can't handle. 40 weeks here and trying to convince my body that were ready. It's not working out very well for me.

    So yeah, what PP's said.

  • I'm 39 weeks tomorrow. I don't think anything really helps. When this baby wants to come, she will come. But I'm still eating spicy foods, because I love them :)

Yep. I've been eating dates like a fiend and it's not helped me one bit.
I normally eat a lot of pineapple and spicy food. Nope.
We've been walking tons. Still no baby.

There is nothing you can do but wait until your doc won't let you wait anymore.
