Should I have leaked milk yet?!

I'm 33 weeks & one day pregnant today, I still haven't leaked any milk.. I mean I'm not complaining, no one wants to have to worry about those wet spots at work, but shouldn't I have leaked some by now?

Some women never ever leak. I know a mom who is nursing 3 kids (tandem nursing her older two with her new baby), and has never leaked once! So yes, totally normal. :)

Colostrum is also pretty thick and tough to express. You could *try* to express some, but you might not get much. Some women do leak colostrum or have an easy time expressing. Everyone's boobs are different.

  • I never leaked when I was pregnant with DD, and my milk came in right on schedule, no leaking this time either. Definitely nothing to worry about!

  • I didn't leak with DS, but I am leaking as we speak (type) with this one. lol

  • I didn't leak until after my son was born and even then it was only a tiny bit once or twice.
  • I haven't leaked through my clothes but if I massage my boobs I do get small amounts squeezed out.
  • Yes, it's completely normal not to leak. I didn't leak at all during my first pregnancy, but during the first few months of breastfeeding, I leaked enough to literally spray through my shirts. Something to look forward to, maybe. ;)

This pregnancy, I leak a little colostrum occasionally. My son weaned just in the last few weeks but I stopped making milk months ago. It seemed to dry up for a while, then the colostrum took over.

Anyway, don't worry a bit. You'll have plenty of milk once baby arrives.

  • I can hand express, but I don't randomly leak.  However, after birth, all anyone had to do was run water and I would let down all over the place.  I could have 3 babies crying and not one little drip, turn on a faucet to wash dishes, fully soaked shirt.
    :(

  • I don't know why, but this made me LOL. Just seems like an odd thing to get panicky about.

  • @Alyssa&bby Thanks for posting this.  I have been wondering the same thing.  I am 32w1d and have not had any leaking which I'm thankful for.  I would hate to be standing in front of my high school students with big wet spots on my chest.
