I had a appointment today at 38.4 weeks still dilated 1cm my doctor said if I want she can do a membrane sweep after 39 weeks.... Any suggestions, or tips?
I'd at least wait until 40 weeks to do anything like that. Like PP's said it only works sometimes and it won't kickstart anything if you aren't ready anyway. I had it done with DD at 40.5 weeks because my OB convinced me to induce at 41 weeks (definitely waiting til 42 this time if needed) and contractions started that night and DD was born 3 days later, on the day I was supposed to be induced. When most FTMs deliver around 41 weeks there's no need to force anything that early. It is very uncomfortable / painful so I'd only do it to try to start natural labor when other things like induction are being discussed.
Re: 38 weeks
39 weeks is considered the new "full term". Just wait it out. Walk, have lots of sex. Just allow your body & baby to go things their way.
I had a membrane sweep at 41w1d. I hated it & I went into labor the next night on my own. Don't do it is my advice.
