I just cried at work :(

OK, I'm really not trying to be an AW with my double posts today.

I just talked to my boss and they want me to go work out of town for up to 2 weeks in September.  I burst out crying when she said that and said I could only handle 1 week.  She was totally mellow about it and said we could be flexible and send someone else out part of the time, etc., but I felt so stupid.  My boss doesn't have kids and was probably like "Whoa!"

In any case, I just talked to my mom and she can fly out when I have to be out of town to help DD, which makes me feel so much better. DH would be in finals for school and also we'd have to take DD out of her rescue swim classes if I left.  So mom can do that and allow DH to study as well. Of course mom is secretly THRILLED.
 
[Edited to say that DH not DD would be in finals, LOL]

Working mamas - how long have you left your LOs for?  How did it go?  Any repercussions in terms of insecurity, clinginess when you returned?

    I have only done 3 days so far. I had a great time. DH was with me and DS spent the time with my parents. He actually didn't want to leave when we went to get him. It's hard at first, but it is nice to have some adult time. Plus, she will be so happy to see you when you get back. I love when DS comes running to great me with a hug and kiss at the door.

    I have only done a night away 3x so far and would freak out about two weeks too.  However I am leaving her for vacation in October on purpose and while I am freaking out about it I think our LO's are getting to the point where it is good for them to practice being taken care of by other people.  They need to know they are loved by more than us and realize that it is ok if we leave because we always come back.  Doesn't make it easier but it is probably a good thing.

    I left DS twice, once for a 5-day trip and once for a 2 day trip; however, as we speak I'm gearing up for a 3 day conference. I have another 4 day one in October, 3 days in dec, and then two week long ones in the spring. It will be ok! I hate to leave DS but honestly the worst part sometimes is dealing with h! Haha. My parents or siblings usually watch DS for me so I don't feel too awful. The first trip was the worst, but I had just stopped nursing, DS got hfm, AND my parents are the worst and fed him crappy food instead of what I sent (at 10m old) so his belly hurt. He still made it through and we were all happy to be home! Good luck mama!

    Thanks for the encouragement, guys :).  I've only been away from her for 1 night of her entire life and I'm as much worried about missing her as vice-versa.  She loves daddy, but we are super bonded and my nightmare is that she might feel like I'm not coming back :(.

    I'll let you know how it goes!

    Sounds like you have a good plan in motion. I honestly haven't had to go out of town for work for longer then a day (no overnight) since J was born. I do have a conferences in the next few months but they are only 40 minutes away so I can drive him every night and just go back up the next morning.
