Relocating from Seattle to Friendswood area

My DH was offered a job in Pasadena and we are considering relocating to the Friendswood area from Seattle. We have 2 girls, 4.5 and 2.5. :) From our internet research, Friendswood looks like a family friendly area with a decent commute for DH. Anything you can tell me about the area? Good neighborhoods in Friendswood, Preschools, Kid's Activities, etc. Thanks!

Re: Relocating from Seattle to Friendswood area

  • I live in Friendswood and it is a great family oriented city. Friendswood has been voted one of the best places to live and the public school system is one of the best in all of the Houston area. The public library has great free toddler and small children activities and there are lots of parks (although it's pretty hot right now) Not sure what your price range is for a house but the housing market in the area is getting pretty tight especially under $350,000. I've got a (almost) 2 year old son and another due in October...I've lived in Friendswood for the past year and have met a lot of really great moms. Let me know if you have any other questions about the area...I'd be happy to share : )

That's great to hear! Are there certain areas in Friendswood that are better to live than others? If you know names of neighborhoods, that would be really helpful! We're looking at houses in the 350-450k price range if that helps. We plan on coming out in October to scope out the area, but want to have a game plan of where we are going to look! Thanks!!!

  • Make sure you look for homes in Galveston county vs. Harris county. Friendswood is split btwn the two the school district you want to be in is Friendswood isd...which is Galveston county. Check out HAR.com it is a great real estate website for all of houston...they even have an app which is really nice. With your price range you should have no problem finding a beautiful home here...prices are very reasonable especially compared to west coast prices : ) If you want a newer home West Ranch or Friendswood Lakes are two really nice subdivisions. If you want an older home (but typically larger lots, more space btwn neighbors, mature landscaping) then check out Eagle Lakes or Falcon Ridge (which is the sub I live in).

  • No problem! Feel free to pm me to if you have any other questions. Let me know once you get settled here...my husband and I moved here from Michigan several years ago so I know how hard it can be to move to a completely new place....would love another mommy friend : )

  • I definitely will! We lived in Northern Indiana for a year and I made a great friend there from the bump! It's a great way to meet new people when you're in a new place in my experience. :) Right now we still don't have a date, but I will probably have more questions for you in the future!
