Worried

I feel silly for this but last week I started feeling the baby move a little more (16-17 weeks) and now since Monday barely anything. I'll be 18 weeks tomorrow. He also seems to have wedged himself low in my right side as I'm pretty sore in that spot and it's where I find his hb on my Doppler now, which as of yesterday was same rate as it's been and everything. I remember my daughter not moving for days sometimes at this point but I just thought as a second timer I'd be feeling more. Anyone else?

  • I'm a second timer too and thought for sure I'd be feeling more by now! For me the movements are so light that if I'm not really concentrating and paying attention then I miss them.

  • I'm 17 weeks and not feeling anything. I normally don't feel consistently until after 18 weeks, and it gets progressively stronger and more obvious.
  • Since you have a Doppler, you have nothing to be concerned about. 18 weeks is still early for consistent movement. I'm just over 20 weeks and only now am I feeling daily movement.
  • Thanks! Yeah my first was a mover too but not consistently until at least 21 weeks. Could be that I'm just impatient. I'm also a major worry wart too lol.

  • I'll be 20 weeks tomorrow and my little girl is constantly moving these days. She was really active yesterday, usually when she's really active one day she rests the next it seems like. Maybe your little one just tired himself out and is taking a few days to rest :)
  • Exactly my situation :) Baby was a mover and a shaker from 16-17 and now at 18 he likes to hang out and not move much (that I can feel). I just had my A/S and all looked great :) He's just not moving like he was! I expect that will become more consistent for both of us soon :)

  • This baby was moving a TON last week (15-16w) and now isn't so I've been concerned as well. I'm not sure how much I should feel since I didn't feel any moving with my first until maybe 18w or so.  Hoping it's normal. I ran out of sonogram gel (coming today) and none of the other substitutes would work and I was in a panic because nothing would work and I couldn't hear even my own HB! (exactly why I tried talking myself out of getting a doppler to begin with!).

  • I felt this way too! Felt baby move all weekend and then nothing on Tuesday and Wednesday. It really freaked me out but then finally I felt something today and I was so relieved!!

  • Baby movements are sparodic at best at this time. Sometimes for me baby is very active one day and quite for another. I have felt it every day but some more times than others.
Just chill as best you can.

They will get to a point where they will be constantly moving esp at night when you don't want them too! I'm sure all is fine. If in doubt or you get worried then call someone.

  • I agree with PPs about week 18 being a low movement week for me, but once week 19 hit I've been feeling consistent and strong movements. I also agree with others that consistent (or not) movements don't mean much this early.
