Re: advice please.... headaches!

  • I feel your pain. I had them the for a week straight (the 5 days I took it and it has a long half life, so for 2 more days). I tried everything: tylenol, motrin, caffeine and nothing worked. Maybe your RE would be willing to prescribe some stronger pain meds?

  • I suffer from migraines, the only thing that helps me is Vicodin or norco, when they get super difficult to deal with. Or sometimes ice and sleep help or just laying in a dark quiet room...:( best of luck.
  • I don't have a history of bad headaches but when I get one I always take 1 alieve and 1 ibuprofen and it helps me. Actually the other day my husband had a headache and I gave him 1 of each and told him it seems to help me and he explained that both of them work in different ways so that might be why it's helping. It's like taking a Zantac and Benadryl for an allergic reaction, each one works to calm down different histamines so together they calm down all of them at the same time and works better.

I hope you find some relief soon.
    Fucking bump!!!!
  • @Pintobean39 I'm curious how Aleve and ibuprofen work differently since they are both NSAIDS.

OP: Sorry I can't be of much help. The only things that have helped me are Excedrin or a prescription.

  • So sorry, I had some Femara headaches but not so bad!

No good advice on treating it. I tend to drink a bunch of water and take a nap if possible.

I don't know, my husband who's a Dr explained it to me, but like most of his explanations they go over my head. I'm an accountant, medical stuff confuses me. In my head I think of it like Zantac and Benadryl are both antihistamines but work differently in your body.

  • I had Femara headaches two days in a row that wouldn't go away. I suffer from migraines but i don't like taking to much meds (ironically now i take more than i ever have). I have an ice pack that wraps around my head or tie my head with a scarf as tight as possible (i know, does not look pretty) and i lay down. Sometimes I do both. This works for my migraines but i tried this while taking the Femara and it didn't work. I just dealt with it and the second cycle on Femara, no headaches.

I also took the Femara before bed, so that might help reduce the side effects.
